The International United Armies was an alliance founded on December 19, 2019, by Small/Medium Army legend and Aliens Leader BestPenguin. Last year, they decided to shut down permanently but have now returned for round two.

An Alliance is Forged
Following its creation in late 2019, the International United Armies aimed to support small/medium armies that were facing possible closure due to a lack of proper sizes. Originally known as the National Armies Alliance, the IUA was primarily led by the Help Force. However, after their departure from the Club Penguin Online Army League, the NAA became unsustainable as internal issues began to arise.
Aiming to fill the gap left by the Helpers, the Aliens took the opportunity to inaugurate the IUA and eventually became heads of the alliance. The IUA comprised of several armies, including the Royals, Athletes, Tree Cult, Sky Troops, and the Miners. On average, they were able to accomplish sizes of 25-35+ during joint events. Unfortunately, after the Aliens were reclassified to S/M, they felt they could no longer provide the support they felt the alliance required. As a result, the IUA officially disbanded on May 11, 2020.

The alliance remained inactive until June 2024, when the Aliens announced their reopening. This new rendition of the IUA consisted of different armies, such as the Squids, Secret Service, and Special Weapons and Tactics. After discussions with SS leader, Joelfreak, BestPenguin decided to revive the alliance with the same goals as the previous generation. That being so, on July 11, 2024, the reborn IUA made its debut. However, their return was faced with several challenges.
The Sapphire Concordat declared war on SS, with claims that the army was using S/M armies to their benefit. Despite support from the IUA, they ultimately lost the war. However, the effort only highlighted the strength and unity of the alliance. Nevertheless, despite its promising future, IUA founder BestPenguin announced its permanent shutdown in August 2024, citing ongoing issues within the community.
Return of the IUA
To the surprise of many in the community, on April 17 2025, BestPenguin announced the official return of the IUA. This new variation of the alliance would comprise the Scarlet Republic, Smart Penguins, Aliens, and Penguins of Agartha. The aim of the group remains the same – to support and aid the S/M armies of the community.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Ghostt, Zooy, BestPenguin, and Berlim for an interview regarding the recently reformed alliance.
What caused you to reform the alliance after your decision to shut down permanently?
Ghostt: Basically I dont know the whole story but the Aliens essentially have had IUA for a while now and they wanted to bring it back because they felt there were some good armies around currently worth involving in the alliance. I think they got a good lineup for the current alliance though and I am excited for the future of IUA
Zooy: As a former leader in the IUA, more specifically my time as SWAT leader in 2nd gen IUA, I first-hand witnessed the immense benefits that the alliance brought to all its members. It gave SWAT a strong boost of stability in a period of worrying uncertainty; so when offered the opportunity to rejoin the alliance, I was more than willing to join!
BestPenguin: We noticed that there aren’t many big armies helping the small/medium (SM) community in CPA anymore. The Aliens want to step in and support the SM community so it can grow and stay active. We want to help them do better in the Top Tens and give them overall support to shine once again. Last time, there was a misunderstanding that stopped us from reaching our goal, but this time we’re confident we can really make a difference and bring new hope to the SM community.
Berlim: We wanted to boost the s/m community mutually.
Is there anything to look forward to from this alliance moving forward?
Ghostt: You can expect a lot of interaction among the S/M community and even moreso from the armies involved in this alliance. Most of us just want to help the S/M more than anything else and that is one of the main goals of this alliance.
Zooy: IUA has traditionally empowered S/M armies and has also enriched the community of S/M, so it’s definitely something to look forward to. More practice battles between members might also increase the strength of each army, and simply the sharing of advice is also going to go a long way.
BestPenguin: This alliance will help bring new life to the SM community. We hope to set an example of a strong and supportive alliance which would look more like a than just an alliance. After all together, we care, we share, we rise, and we smile.
Berlim: I expect bigger maxes and a stronger and a more lovely community.
What are any goals you plan on achieving together?
Ghostt: Our goals are just to improve S/M armies overall and also just strengthen some of the newer armies that are doing really well already. Also we wish to have a lot of fun and involve lots of people into our activities if possible
Zooy: Our goal is to hopefully make an IUA that lasts longer than the last generation, but also preserve that tight-knit bond which we all had during 2nd gen IUA.
BestPenguin: We plan to support each other no matter what and grow together 🫶
Berlim: Better placements in the top ten, and more fun events with the IUA family.
Do you have any final statements for the community?
Ghostt: I dotn have much of a final statement so I will just say that uniting armies within S/M or just doing anything to help more S/M armies exist is what will help this community survive longer. I think we can do a lot if the community wasnt so “split in two”
