Change has been a very influential leader. He began his army career very early on and made connections with various members of the community. In today’s edition of Memorable Moments, we will look into his journey and achievements.

Army History
Change joined the community through the Army of Club Penguin in December 2010 after coming across one of their events. He soon worked his way up to staff under the leadership of Kenneth1000 and Flipper7706. Due to dual-enlisting being the norm at the time, Change enlisted in multiple armies, such as the Doritos, Golden Troops, and Pretzels. By the end of 2011, he had lost interest in armies and retired from the community.
In early 2013, he returned to ACP under Swimmerboy01‘s leadership, motivated by a desire to achieve the position of third-in-command. Simultaneously, he joined the Water Vikings in March of that year as a moderator. WV was a small army at the time and had been since its creation in 2010. He was shortly promoted to leader of the Vikings and had worked his way up to fourth-in-command in ACP. By the summer of 2013, WV had grown considerably in size, which came to be known as the Blue Summer.

Climbing the Ranks
Change had remained with the Clovers for a while now despite WV’s success, but he eventually left at the end of summer to focus on leading the Vikings. WV’s activity declined once the season ended, and he retired in September 2013. The army shut down later that month, and he did not return to the community until early 2015.
2015 was a tumultuous year for the Vikings. They were able to surpass all achievements from 2013 and were constantly at war, mainly against DCP, who had by then become WV’s major enemy. During this time, the New Dawn Alliance reformed to declare war on WV. The alliance consisted of DCP, ACP, The Rebel Penguin Federation, Ice Warriors, and Dark Warriors. The wars continued periodically until both DCP and WV shut down towards the end of 2016. Finally, after a war against IW, Change retired at the beginning of 2016.

The Doritos ultimately took the cake in the invasion of Migrator against the Water Vikings.
Shortly after its revival in May 2020, Change returned to leadership of WV after encouragement from other veterans. After a war against Special Weapons and Tactics in summer that year, the army reached a max of 70 at their victory parade, setting a new record for the Vikings at the time. WV went on to maintain sizes ranging from 30-50 for the rest of the year. In the end, Change stepped down in 2021, bringing an end to his time in the community.

Club Penguin Armies contacted Change for an exclusive interview regarding his most memorable moments.
What is your favorite memory of your army career?
this might be recency bias but my most positive individual memory of my time with water vikings was reviving the army for the cpps era – i don’t want to appear conceited, but i worked super hard on wv during the pandemic, and i like to think that created a lasting culture that has kept the community running into 2025 now, and i’m incredibly proud of that. but i also consider the revival my favourite army-related memory because of how exciting the experience was: everything was new and different while remaining nostalgic, and being able to relive your fondest memories of childhood with many of the same people you’ve known for years while simultaneously introducing new people to a community you love was a total trip that i’m super grateful to have been involved with
Who do you think has impacted you the most during your time in the community and why?
definitely kingfunks4. i began my army career with acp and funks was their sole leader in early 2013. i remember him being my favourite leader – i pretty much idolised him, even after leaving to join wv. i remember how surreal it was to find out funks would be joining to lead with us shortly after i was first promoted. he was an enormous influence on me during my first stint leading wv, and i’d definitely attribute the success i went on to share with wv to funks’s guidance. we’ve lead or advised together for years on-and-off since those days, including water vikings’ pandemic revival, but through everything i was still that star struck 12 year old kid who got to lead alongside kingfunks4. but i have to acknowledge how important bepboy9, dashing snow and zak were in impacting both me and wv’s success in og club penguin. you really can’t talk about water vikings’ history without mentioning them; they were the people who really ran the show during wv’s best years in og and played a huge role in why myself and so many other people fell in love with that community
Can you share a moment from your career that made you the person you are today?
difficult question, i don’t think i could point out a single experience that was a certifiably formative moment. but i think anyone reading this who’s been around since the jurassic era will understand and agree when i say the club penguin army experience as a whole taught me that friendship outlives acquaintanceship. what i mean by that is, even when it has been years since you last spoke to or heard from someone who was once in your life, that person is still your friend: being apart doesn’t take away from the happiness you created together, and the passing of time doesn’t diminish the truth of that happiness you shared. obviously it’s well understood that people in life come and go, but it was club penguin that really introduced the younger me to loss in that sense. i don’t think i’d have the same understanding of friendship or human relationships without cpa, and i’m grateful to have that perspective, as in a sense it means you’re never truly alone so long as you hold onto the memory of friends who, for one reason or another, aren’t around anymore. even if it’s bittersweet, it’s a beautiful thing
What is your proudest achievement to date?
this is probably recency bias again, but i’d have to say it was my leadership during our pandemic revival. firstly, water vikings didn’t find much success in og club penguin outside of top ten placements: we always came short in tournaments, and our war history was mostly comprised of long and dirty feuds with dcp and armies adjacent to them. the cpps era is a source of pride for me because, being older, i now had a different perspective on nearly everything, which i think played a role in the water vikings’ longevity. i placed an emphasis on not just recruitment, but also the responsibility leaders and staff had in making the community both a safe space and a server that people wish to spend time in outside of club penguin events. i’d say this approach reslly engrained itself into wv’s dna, so i’m most proud to have played a part in creating a safe and fun community that people care about enough to have kept going for 5 years now
If you could change anything, would you?
it sounds like a cop out, but concerning water vikings i can probably confidently say i wouldn’t change a thing 🙂
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to be an army legend such as yourself?
if i could say anything to someone who is genuinely aspiring for ‘success’ in club penguin armies, it’d probably go something like this: it’s not as important as you think. i could simply say savvy recruitment + retention through community-building = higher maxes = success, and that would be largely true if the only thing that’s important to you is the seeming prestige of a high top ten placement, or a tournament win. but myself and everyone else who’s too old to still be here have lived through that obsession, and i’d be pretty amazed if any of them would say that that seeming prestige continues to be important once you inevitably lose interest in the game. club penguin armies are great, but with hindsight you’ll learn that that’s because of the people you meet. that’s literally the only thing that’s left after everything else is gone. so yeah, be ambitious and work your way up the ranks and all of that stuff because that’s the flesh and blood of the whole club penguin army experience, but don’t let it become the only thing you’ve got going on in your life. chances are you’re young if you’re experiencing armies for the first time, and the great thing about being young is you can seriously do anything. without hindsight that probably sounds stupid or unbelievable, but you have so much potential so long as you don’t turn down the opportunities life gives you because they somehow seem less important than a penguin game. you shouldn’t aspire to be an army legend – you should aspire to be a part of this cool thing in a healthy way. and if you become an army legend, awesome. you probably won’t, but that also means you haven’t sacrificed your youth for something that’s not really that important anyway, and still have a load of friends to show for your troubles! that’s the advice i would give to something aspiring to be an army legend
Change has been around since much earlier days and has impacted WV greatly. He has achieved a lot throughout his time here, and his leadership will not go unnoticed in future generations. What are your thoughts on his journey since the OGCP days? Would you say he’s demonstrated a level of distinguished service that will be remembered forever?
