Ugly is a retired army leader, primarily known for leading the Army of Club Penguin. In this edition, we will explore Ugly’s experiences and achievements.

Army Journey
Ugly started his journey after BestPenguin recruited him into the Aliens in February 2020. After a short time, he was introduced to the Tree Cult army because of good relations between them and the Aliens. Ugly decided to join TC, managing to get promoted to High Command in April 2020. TC became inactive following the closure of Club Penguin Online, rebranding to a gaming server instead. After a few months, Ugly decided to revive TC with the help of AustinFraud, Pran, LEGOMAN, and ot_ter. Ugly’s leadership was able to completely revamp the uniform and immensely expand army relations, but it wasn’t enough. TC officially shut down on October 25, 2020.

After leaving TC, Ugly joined the Dark Champions as a Third-in-Command. On December 13, 2020, they announced the merger of DC with the Elites. After a period of time, Dark Champions started losing activity due to the merge. DC eventually shut down, becoming a chatting server.

After that, Ugly joined the Fire Warriors as Second-in-Command. The FW participated in tournaments such as March Madness 2021, going against the Silver Empire in the first round but not going any further than that. FW averaged a size of 15+ at that time. The FW also participated in the Legends Cup XI, beating the Spartans making them reach the quarter-finals against the Rebel Penguin Federation. At the finals of Legends Cup XI, Club Penguin Army Head Quarters announced a tournament for small and medium armies, Challengers Cup 2. In the middle of the tournament, Ugly was promoted to leadership. The FW went to the finals of Challengers Cup 2 against People’s Imperial Confederation and won.

After Fire Warriors, Ugly joined the Secret Service on April 22, 2022, as Leader-in-Training. He was going through the ranks fast and eventually became leader on 20 June 2022. When SS shut down, Ugly retired from Armies. Almost one year later, he came back to the community in June 2023, joining the Army of Club Penguin as a Major General. On August 9, he was promoted to HCOM. By February 2024, he was inducted as the army’s 51st Commander-in-Chief.
He led the army through wars against the likes of the Water Vikings and the Elite Guardians. The war against the Elite Guardians was special because of the sheer number of battles. After over 100 battles, Ugly led the Clovers to victory against the Guardians. He was later awarded the Silver Medal alongside his co-leader, Roxy for their accomplishments.
Ugly also had a lot of tournament success. His leadership skills helped the Clovers come runner-up in the Around The World Cup, and claim victory in Project Conquest: Blood Bowl. At the end of 2024, Ugly decided to retire, after 11 months of leading the army.

Ugly also has many accomplishments within the Club Penguin Armies Reporting Team as well as in the community itself. Ugly achieved Reporter Of The Month in July 2023. Also, he achieved the Person Of The Year 2024 and won other awards, such as the Biggest Retirement and Best Major Army Leader for Winter 2024.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Ugly, to discuss some of his most memorable moments.
How did you come up with your name?
No deep meaning behind it, I didn’t give much thought when I came up with the name as I didn’t think it would hold much way later.
What moments do you look back on fondly?
My time in Tree Cult, Fire Warriors, and Army of Club Penguin respectively. I think each of those chapters shaped my personality and character, and were massive turning points career wise. Most specifically the tournaments and wars I won in each, it is hard to encapsulate the feeling of being there and having an impact in the way an army succeeds.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Making and keeping ACP the greatest. The ideas and the strategies and the triumphs, the continuous willingness to move forward and us never giving up despite all the difficulties and hardships leading to the massive rise we all worked so hard on will forever hold a place in my heart.
Who in the community has impacted you the most?
Austinfraud, been by my side since day 1 and without him I would’ve never made it this far. He gave me many opportunities that made me who I am today.
If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?
Hard to think of something like that but I would’ve just changed how I acted early in my career. Suffice to say mistakes were made but each individual detail through the last 5 years led to the accomplishments I achieved in the long run so destiny has its own way.
