On December 15, 2024, Krosive, leader of the FrostGuard Legion, announced the army’s closure and a merger into the Dark Vikings. This came as a shock to the army community as the Frostguard Legion was a relatively new army.
The FrostGuard Legion was accepted into Club Penguin Armies on November 30, 2024. Founded by Krosive and Mark0600, former leader of the Rebel Alliance Commando. Following its opening, they placed tenth on the Top Ten armies of the week, moving up to position number nine the following week. Things seemed to be going swimmingly for the army, however, shortly after it opened, Mark stepped back from CPA entirely, announcing his retirement. The army activity severely dropped from there, eventually leading to Krosive announcing that FGL would be merging into the revived Dark Vikings.
Founded in March 2020 by Krosive, the Dark Vikings are well-known in the army community for their troubled past. The first generation shut down shortly after its opening, due to issues within the army. They also saw their largest moment of success after winning the first-ever Double Deck the Halls tournament and the February Forte. Notably, the Vikings were the first army to be outright banned from competing in any Club Penguin Armies tournaments.
Following the announcement of Dark Vikings’ return, Club Penguin armies reached out to Krosive, former FGL leader and DV leader for an exclusive interview.
What led you to shutting down Frostguard Legion and reviving Dark Vikings?
FGL was pretty much DV 2.0. After Mark retired, we didn’t really see the point in continuing the army and decided to bring back DV.
What do you expect from this new DV generation?
I expect a good generation and hopefully to pass down the glory of DV to newer people. We have great plans for this generation of DV.
Will we be seeing the return of previous DV veterans/legends to assist in this generation?
Yes, many veterans will be returning to the army for this new generation.
Where do you see DV in 6 months time?
I see ourselves as one of the top armies in the community once again.
How do you feel that the army being CPJ-based will affect it?
I think that using CPJ could make us stronger. Some of our hcom have experience with recruiting prior to CPAB/CPATG so I believe that using a CPPS will be easier for us and it will be much more enjoyable to play club penguin alongside actual club penguin players.
Clearly, there are high hopes for this new generation of one of the most controversial armies of all time. But will they succeed, or shortly close down like the FrostGuard Legion? One thing is certain, however, the coming events will surely be a sight to see. But what do you think? Will this new Dark Vikings generation rise above the rest and cement Krosive as a generation army leader?
