After less than a month, following his retirement from ACP’s leadership, Coolguy was awarded the Silver Medal award. It is one of the rarest awards obtainable within the army.
On March 11th, Army Legend CSY awarded the former Army of Club Penguin leader, Coolguy, the ACP Silver Medal award. The decision to award Coolguy the Silver Medal came from the ACP Legend’s committee. Coolguy received this award due to his contributions as a leader and efforts towards winning the New Year Bonanza in January. Additionally, Coolguy aided the army in getting the #1 spot in the Top Tens. Altogether, he led ACP to that spot 16 times. This was a record high for ACP in the Club Penguin Private Server era.
After serving three long years in the Special Weapons and Tactics, and two months within ACP, Coolguy joined the ACP Leadership alongside Austinfraud in May 2023. ACP won three tournaments under his leadership. These tournaments are the Legends Cup XIII, Trick or Treat Trials, and the New Year Bonanza.
In addition to these achievements, the army was also able to max record of 61 troops online on CPA Battleground during the Legends Cup. Furthermore, the army has taken part in numerous wars. ACP went on to be victorious against the likes of SWAT and the Elite Guardians. Alongside these achievements, the army and Coolguy went on to break multiple army records.
Winning the Legends Cup XIII in August 2023 helped Coolguy to earn the Bronze Medal award, alongside his 2 co-leaders, Calgocubs and AustinFraud. Furthermore, winning the New Year Bonanza provided him with an award only achieved by a handful of ACP legends. Currently, there are only 9 Silver medal holders. Only 5 individuals have been able to receive the award in the CPPS era. Being presented with the award is a big accomplishment within the army. The Silver Award is right below the highest award achievable within the army, the Medal of Honor.
Coolguy’s retirement did not stop him from being recognized and awarded for his achievements. With that said, how does one go about winning the prestigious award?
Club Penguin Armies sat down with the recently retired 50th Commander in Chief Coolguy for an exclusive interview. We asked him about his feelings regarding earning the Silver Medal award.
How do you feel about earning this award?
I feel honoured to have received the award. It was something that I wanted to earn when I was leading the army, but it was not something that I expected upon leaving. Truthfully, I left knowing what I had done in the army and knowing that it’s got people there who are capable of supporting the army to take it to where it needs to be but knew how high the standards were for the silver medal. Only very few people have earned the silver medal award so to be one of these people is a proud moment.
What did it take to achieve that?
The standards for leaders are high so the standards for us after winning the LC and obtaining the Bronze Medal only raised. In terms of the medals, a leader has to make a clear impact on the army but this impact is something not easily achieved. For me, it was winning 3 tournaments and maintaining ACP’s dominance in the Top Tens, breaking record after record. Of course, there were other aspects but I believe that my overall efforts were taken into consideration outside of these too.
Do you feel like you will be treated differently than before by others within and outside ACP?
No, not really. I would not expect to be treated any differently with or without the Silver Medal. However, now that I am out of the army game there may be some change in people’s approaches to me and that’s to be expected because I’m no longer a leader or high commanding member but just a person.
What makes you different from other silver medal award holders?
Each of the silver medal holders are legends in their own right. I mean, you have people like Mchappy, Csy, Max, Kenneth1000 and 2Funky3. Each of these people revolutionised ACP in their own way. Before answering this question, I checked the list of holders on the ACP site and being amongst those individuals is surreal. It’s hard to compare with these legends, however, what makes me different is my journey inside and out of ACP. I won three tournament trophies and we broke many records but I was not an “ACP guy”. I came in from ACP’s enemy, its historic rival, making me the outsider. It did not feel that way, however, there was still the pressure to perform, to show what I was capable of, to prove myself as a leader. Of course, I had shown what I was capable of in the past but I knew I could do more and wanted to prove that too. I was hungry. That hunger served as motivation and drove me. That’s what I believe makes me different.
What is your advice for people trying to follow in your footsteps or trying to achieve such an award?
My advice? Well, I would tell people not to follow in my footsteps. The worst thing that you could do is try to be someone else or compare yourself to someone else on your journey. If you compare yourself to someone else, you might find that you doubt yourself or restrict what you can do. Do the best things that you can do and set goals for you to try and hit. You may not hit all of them but that does not matter, what matters is your commitment and dedication to the army and to try and hit them goals.
After putting so much work into the army, ACP has shown their appreciation to their former leader, Coolguy, by awarding him a prestigious medal for his accomplishments. Evidently, Coolguy is honoured to have received such an award. However, will Coolguy be able to win more awards in the future? What medal would you like to win? Do you think we will see Coolguy return to ACP in the future? We, at Club Penguin Armies, congratulate you on achieving such a prestigious honour and hope the best for your future.
