The Water Vikings have a new leader as they prepare for the upcoming March Madness tournament. The announcement was made on Saturday, marking a new chapter in their journey.

On March 2nd, Dino made an official announcement in the Water Vikings server, declaring the promotion of a new leader. The individual appointed as the new Commander for the Water Vikings is none other than Mei. The announcement came after the departure of Vikings Leader Mabel, officially creating their newest “quadrumvirate”.

Mei first joined the Vikings on March 10th, 2023 and quickly rose through the ranks. She saw a rise occur in the army but shined throughout the crowd. On April 10th, 2023, just one month after joining, she became a staff member. Despite her inexperience, she proved that she was not going to sit around waiting for opportunities, she was going to make them. This allowed her to prove her worth as a staff member and her dedication to the army. Mei not only went on to witness World War IX but she played a crucial part in it as a member of their staff team. For Mei, this was only the beginning of an unprecedented rise and journey, not only in the army but in the community.
In August of that same year, Mei was promoted to the Vikings’ High Command. Following her promotion she continued to grind and on November 3rd she became Second-in-Command. From here, Mei helped the army prepare for one of the biggest challenges that they had faced since the war and that was the Christmas Chaos.
For the Vikings, the Christmas Chaos tournament was a chance to change the narrative. Water Vikings were overlooked when it came to predicting potential winners. This only gave them more motivation to go on and win the entire tournament. For the Vikings, it was their first-ever Christmas Chaos win. For Mei, it was their first-ever tournament win. It was even sweeter to know that they helped the Vikings to secure the trophy.

Now, Mei takes their place as Water Vikings’ newest Commander but what does the future have in store for them? Club Penguin Armies reached out to the new leader to inquire about their thoughts and feelings on assuming the role of Commander.
What was your initial reaction to being inducted as a Leader?
I got promoted at 2am for me, so I didn’t see it straight away. I woke up at around 4:50am and saw a lot of pings on main chat. I decided to check announcements and saw I became a leader. I was extremely happy and excited for a new chapter in my journey!
Do you have plans for the army or ideas you would like to implement?
I would love to take care of fun segment of Water Vikings. Apart from that, I don’t really have any specified plans. I just want to improve whenever we have to improve, slow down whenever we have to slow down and listen to our community to make this place the best it can be! <3
Is there a message you would like to forward to WV members who are currently working towards their army goals?
Never give up, keep on doing your best and the efforts will eventually pay off. It took me a long time to achieve my goal, but the satisfaction that comes with it is something amazing! We see your efforts so just don’t give up, set your mind on your goals and the rest will follow
Did you have any inspirations or mentors on your way to the top?
Yes! Let me tell you a bit about them: Dino – ever since I decided I want to become a leader one day, he was a person I was looking at as “that’s how I want to be if I become a leader”! The amount of effort he puts into this army is insane and it really inspires me Mabel – Mabel was the first leader I met, I love her VC leading and she inspired me to also VC lead! She is very funny and made events a lot more fun.
Cabin – ever since he joined WV, first as 2ic, I was looking at his actions with a lot of interest. His crazy amount of experience makes him know what to do, which is inspiring. I learned a lot from him and I hope to learn a lot more
Whilst in the high command, was your goal always to become a leader (if at all)?
Yes! It was my goal even earlier than that! Ever since I was a Viking Guard it was my goal to become a leader.

Evidently, Mei has had an unprecedented journey on their way to the top. However, now that they are a leader, there is nowhere else to go. With this in mind, Mei wants to help the army improve in any way that she can. With March Madness soon approaching, will Mei be successful and win their second tournament?
