Gold Eagles Arise: Templars and Romans Ally

On March 30, 2026, the Templars of Club Penguin forged a new alliance with the Romans. But what does this partnership really mean for the two armies? Let’s take a closer look.

Army backgrounds

The Templars, founded by Xing on April 4, 2018, quickly made their mark, joining World War VII against the Rebel Penguin Federation within months of forming. Since then, they’ve grown into a consistent presence, taking part in multiple conflicts, including the Great Holy Wars. Over time, TCP has shifted between Major and Small/Medium divisions, but has recently returned to Major status. Recent changes have seen Zez and Borapenguins step into leadership roles, with Sidie9 appointed as Regent of Jersualem. On the field, the Templars have had a strong run, winning the Small/Medium Finals of Christmas Chaos XV against the Dark Warriors and Romans. More recently, they secured third place in March Madness XI with a victory over the Water Vikings.

The Romans were founded in 2006 by Explorer7777 and remain one of the oldest armies, with a long and well-documented history under multiple leaders. After shutting down in 2020, the army remained inactive for several years before returning in June 2025, with Djgtjvgyhxgy, Zaidmai, Smurf, and Ulysses Nardo stepping into leadership. Nardo, known as a key figure in the Small/Medium scene since 2017, had previously led and advised the Romans. He also spent a brief period in the Water Vikings High Command before returning once again, officially taking leadership on January 29, 2026. Alongside Znation and Csani, the Romans have since entered a new phase, aiming to rebuild and reestablish their position within the S/M community.

An alliance emerges

On June 8, 2025, the Templars and Romans initially united. But the alliance didn’t last long. The Templars announced their breakup on November 5, 2025, citing conflict among the troops and a lack of support from one another. Both leaders admitted that the alliance had become ineffectual, especially when the Roman leaders who had brought the army back to life retired. However, on March 30, 2026, the two armies made amends and announced the Gold Eagle partnership. The action addressed the issues that had beset their previous partnership and signified a renewed commitment to cooperation.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Templars’ leader Borapenguins and Romans’ leader Nardo to explore more about this newfound relationship.

What was the reason for a second alliance with the Templars/Romans?

Borapenguins: Relations with the Romans were rocky last year. Divine Reckoning (VT war) admittedly played a huge part in our alliance breaking off but more than that, I feel like Zez and I coming up as new leaders were just not ready to be proper allies with anyone. Now both our leadership and Romans leadership has grown to finally give it a real shot.

Nardo: We wanted to give the alliance another chance. Sometimes things don’t work out the first time, but we felt it was worth trying again to strengthen ties and see what we can accomplish together.

How do you think this new alliance will bring more to your army?

Borapenguins: Diplomacy is a big thing for us this year, so having an army like the Romans on our side helps us immensely. We’re expanding our community outreach while also making a ton of friends in the process. Win-Win.

Nardo: This renewed alliance will give us opportunities to collaborate, share strategies, and support each other. It also boosts morale and unity among our members, showing that cooperation can lead to stronger outcomes for both armies.

What are your future plans with your ally for events?

Borapenguins: First and foremost, they’re invited to our 8th year anniversary coming up. The possibilities are really endless though. I’m looking forward to many events with them.

Nardo: We don’t have specific events planned yet, but we’re keeping the door open for future collaborations. We’re looking forward to exploring opportunities where both armies can work together.

Do you have anything else to add?

Borapenguins: To anyone out there who thinks they’ve messed up their chances with that special someone, it’s never over. I’m talking to you in particular, the reader… You should call her again!!

Nardo: No, that’s everything for now.

Both armies will definitely be pleased with this alliance and will likely be looking forward to more joint operations ahead. Given their ability to grow quickly and deliver strong performances, this partnership could have a noticeable impact on the wider community. Could this be the push the Romans need to reach Major status? And in what ways might the Templars benefit from teaming up with them?
