Where it all began

In 2020, IceQueen joined the Club Penguin army community during the COVID-19 lockdown. On April 13, 2020, IceQueen met some blue penguins online on Club Penguin Online and decided to check it out after seeing them advertise code and coin giveaways. This happenstance meeting was the first step in her story in Ice Warriors.

In June 2020, IceQueen became Troop of the Week after assisting at a hide-and-seek event. From there, she moved up the ranks until becoming a Staff-in-Training in July 2020, known for her ability to recruit and engage all troops. She became staff around September 2020. While being in Ice Warriors, IceQueen became a leader of IW’s most important colony, Water Ninjas, alongside Kally, Freedomist, and DrQueen. The army was always considered small/medium throughout its history in the original Club Penguin. However, the four leaders turned WNCP, through its shared troops from the Ice Warriors and the close-knit bond, towards major army status. This first assignment would merely be a glimpse at her abilities as a leader.

On the path to becoming a leader, IceQueen reached Leader-in-Training on January 22, 2021. Approximately seven months later, after becoming LiT, Iceyfeet1234 announced IceQueen’s last promotion on July 7, 2021, making her the seventeenth leader of Ice Warriors in the private server era.

During her time in Ice Warriors, they won March Madness three years in a row in 2022. Additionally, they frequently reached the top position in the weekly top tens in 2021 and 2022. In October 2022, under her leadership, Ice Warriors mostly left the army community to become a gaming/fun community. In March 2023, following a major controversy within the Ice Warriors, she helped them recover and fully transition into a gaming community. After the move, she left her position as leader of the Ice Warriors community and became an advisor. She took her real bow from the army administration around July 2024, after stopping helping at the IW academy.

What does Ice Warriors mean to you?

If I truly go into how much Ice Warriors means to me, I could end up yapping forever haha. Ice Warriors is family to me. And I say that as a fact. It’s been my rock, my home, a place I always come back to. I could never ever repay the love and memories my Ice Family have showered me with. I’m grateful to God that I stumbled across this beautiful community 6 yrs ago, 13th April 2020.

How did it feel pulling out Ice Warriors from CPA?

IW initially left the CPA league in October 2022. We were happy with our decision and it suited us for the future of IW. The CPA community was on a decline in 2022 and we felt being in a league was restrictive. Leaving CPA league allowed us to become a more diverse + fun community, we didn’t have the constraints of event quotas by the league to maintain our army status. It was a blast being a hybrid club penguin army and gaming community! The hardest moment in my entire tenure as IW leader was definitely shutting IW army operations down in March 2023. Due to the controversy, disruption, chaos and hate we unfortunately received from majority of the CPA community, it was the best course of action. It was very sad to see that instead of the individual being held accountable for their own actions, the community punished IW as a whole. Many wanted IW to crumble for their own personal agendas but we proved time and time again that we are a force to be reckoned with despite our shutdown. To this day, IW leadership have continued to shape IW’s history and have produced fabulous achievements. Most notable one maxing 100 in 2024. To this day, they have kept the IW spirit alive, I am so proud of them!

What is one of your favourite moments in the army community?

There are so many precious memories, I really can’t pick one. The best thing about this community are the beautiful kind souls I have met along the way. Some who have become my lie-long friends. The proudest moment of being IW leader would be winning March Madness in 2022 with my best friends. It marked our third consecutive win in a row for this tournament and was truly such a massive feat, #THREEPEAT!

Is there something that you would have done differently?

I would not have done anything differently. I suppose the only thing I would change is how much energy I put in to deal with conflict and community drama. It became very draining as I was emotionally invested and it had an impact on my well-being and friendships. It’s very important to put emotion aside but it is hard when you’re working with your close friends! It’s something you gradually become better in with time.

What is something you would say to someone who would like to become a leader of an army or even create their own army?

If you would like to become an army leader or even create your own army, follow your dreams! We’re all here because we love the community, the friends and the nostalgia. Choose an army that you like the vibe off, attend events, be active in chat, ask staff how you can help and have fun! You’ll surely achieve it one day. Creating your own army is alot more challenging, you gotta have the basics down first and the best way to get that is to get experience in an existing army.

Do you think there’s something you would’ve wanted to achieve and you couldn’t?

Outside of being IW Leader, I had hope of becoming head judge one day. However I had to let that go and give my full attention to Ice Warriors at the time.

How do you feel about being retired from being a leader?

I retired from IW leader on 19 August 2023. Honestly, retiring as IW leader was extremely bittersweet, Ice Warriors’ family, friends & allies brought me to tears no joke, I just felt so loved and valued. I miss the adrenaline of leading battles with my best friends and laughing nonstop in event VCs. What helped to transition into retirement fully was my position as IW Advisor – I was still managing the IW SIT Academy in the background till July 2024. After that is when I felt fully satisfied at retiring.

If you could restart over tomorrow, would you do the same thing?

If I could restart over tomorrow, I would do exactly the same thing. Everything that has happened along the way, the good and the bad is what has shaped me into the person I am today.

Did you ever thought or retiring?

I never thought of retiring until my personal life commitments became a priority and I no longer had time to balance and be an active leader. This was around early 2023 and I worked hard to stabilise my team and IW’s future before retiring in August 2023.

How would you describe your journey with IW?

I would describe my journey in IW as one heck of a roller coaster that I would ride on over and over again!

Do you think the Ice Warriors will ever return as an army?

It’s not up to me on whether IW returns to the CPA league. Personally I would advise the current IW leadership not to as we have thrived without the league.

It’s actually quite comical thinking about it, spring of 2023, everyone wanted IW gone. Once all the drama died down and the CPA community saw again what IW’s community is really like, they wanted IW back in the army scene. There’s been alot of talk over the last few years whether we will re-open officially as a club penguin army. I guess I will just have to keep you guys guessing, E6! Teehee mwahahaha. #DON’TFREEZEUP!
