Background
Special Weapons AND Tactics
Ganger90 founded Special Weapons and Tactics in 2009. The group began as a band of rogues on the server, Mammoth, before forming into a formal army. Their first generation fizzled out in 2011, and little is known about the army’s activity in that period. SWAT’s legend truly began in 2012 with the rise of S Cargo2, despite Ganger’s absence. This generation reached the finals of the 2012 Club Penguin Army Central Champions Cup, ultimately losing to the Ninjas. Throughout the remainder of the original Club Penguin era, SWAT repeatedly chased legendary status, often falling just short but consistently remaining a top-tier army. During this time, they built a roster of loyal and impactful leaders, including Frozen Zuke, Badboy, Tacodaily, and Stare3000.
In 2020, the army returned for one of its strongest generations under Sweater, Zuke, and Cargo. During this time, they joined the Warriors Alliance with the Golds, Dark Warriors, and Ice Warriors, waging a massive war against the Doritos and their allies. They reached new heights, but through a botched merger slightly later under former leader, Badboy, they suffered drastically. They persisted through this and multiple other struggles throughout the years since COVID-19 ended, with leaders such as Mare, Aubz, and controversial figure, LEGOMAN. However, following multiple controversies and internal fights over the past year, SWAT declined, despite multiple leadership changes, leading to a hiatus announced in early January 2026. However, just before the hiatus, they announced their alliance with Shadow Legionnaires, confirmed to be active. The current SWAT leaders are: FWAPO, WilliamW2010, and Ggogle.

Recent SWAT event shortly before hiatus
Shadow Legionnaires
Thunder222, formerly of the Water Vikings, Dark Vikings, and Elite Guardians of CP, founded the Shadow Legionnaires, a modern army, in May 2025. After several months of growth and conflict, they added Lemon to the leadership, accelerating their expansion even further. In addition, SL became a large part of The White Order alliance in a war against the Rebel Penguin Federation. Despite the loss, SL continued to perform strongly until September 30, 2025. On this day, they had entered a hiatus state, but returned only two weeks later with Thunder as leader and Lemon as second in command. Since then, the army has worked to grow back, without making too much noise in the community.

Recent Shadow Legionnaires event
Club Penguin Armies reached out to FWAPO from SWAT and both Thunder222 and Lemon from SL.
What was your motivation behind allying with the Shadow Legionnaires?
FWAPO: Obviously, there was a lot happening behind the scenes, with interactions that brought positivity to both parties. However, the main reason for this collaboration is the similarity in goals shared by both armies. SWAT and SL will be a great alliance, and we can’t wait to dominate the S/M community in the future. We wish for this alliance the have the best of luck, and we both will provide support whenever needed. much love thunder <33
What was your motivation behind allying with SWAT?
Thunder222: it was our motive till they brought it up and it was our motivation since november really
Lemon: I and thunder saw it as an opportunity since we can become a better S/M army and also improve our troops during battle
How do you think the alliance will affect your army?
FWAPO: For now, as many people have noticed, SWAT is in lockdown. This is our responsibility as leaders to do what is best for SWAT, and we absolutely refuse to let SWAT face the same issues it dealt with before the new leadership came. With that said, and with a fresh start ahead, this alliance will affect SWAT in many ways, interactions, joint events, practice battles, etc.. These effects will not only help SWAT and the new faces, but SL as well.
Thunder222: SWAT is on the rise and it can be the a great alliance
Lemon: From a troop perspective, we can attend alongside SWAT which means a new experience and possibly better overall skill when playing. From a leader’s perspective, we can get to know swat leaders better and also have a helping hand when needed.
With SWAT’s announcement of a hiatus of sorts, what will become of the alliance during this time?
FWAPO: SWAT encourages SL to do what brings glory to their army during this time. I can confidently say that Thunder brings a lot to the table, and personally, I can’t wait to see what he will do with SL to make it stand out across the rest of the S/M community.
Thunder222: still the same, after all that multilogging from fwapo didnt really affect us
Lemon: Since we have been partially busy as well, we will host some events from time to time with hopes of staying consistent. Until the hiatus ends, only then I can answer this completely.
Anything else to add?
FWAPO: nope
Thunder222: something happend on Januery 3rd
Lemon: No thanks
From the interviews, we can see that SWAT and SL are both excited about this newfound alliance, with great expectations for this alliance. When SWAT ends their hiatus, this alliance will surely flourish, with both armies having been strong in the community before. Do you think this alliance will be beneficial to both armies? Will SWAT’s hiatus affect the alliance in any significant direction?
