Throughout 2025, there has been a major resurgence within the Small/Medium community. Let us reflect on the various S/M tournaments throughout the year.

The Small/Medium community has experienced a noticeable surge this year, with a mix of new faces emerging and familiar ones once again dominating the scene. Since the early days of the community, tournaments have played a vital role in representing the other half of the army landscape, giving groups that may not have the size to challenge major powers a chance to demonstrate their strength on the battlefield.
That tradition continues today. Despite the smaller size of the current S/M community, new strides have been made as numerous armies seize opportunities to showcase their abilities on a more manageable scale. These tournaments also create space for the non-major side of the community to remain active, providing insight into what the lesser-sized armies are achieving and how they continue to evolve.
Today, we will reflect on the various S/M tournaments held throughout the year, examining how both new and established armies have taken charge of the community while introducing fresh and innovative competitive ideas along the way.
Candy Crusher Brawl
2025’s first tournament of the year saw an exciting twist with the first edition of the Candy Crusher Brawl, a single-day tournament inspired by Valentine’s Day. Taking heavy inspiration from Mchappy‘s Trick or Treat Trials introduced in 2023, the tournament featured a format that introduced different challenges to be completed within rooms, testing each army’s capabilities. This tournament included an S/M bracket, the first of many throughout the year, giving the less prominent part of the community a chance to shine.
In Room A1, the Water Vikings and the Scarlet Republic battled, ending in a decisive battle and objective win for WV. In Room B1, the People’s Imperial Confederation, the Smart Penguins, and the Elite Guardians of Club Penguin battled, with EGCP taking both the battle and objective win. Room A2 saw SP, EGCP, and PIC battle it out, with EGCP winning the battle room and PIC winning the objective. In Room B2, the Vikings and the Republic battled once more, with WV winning both the objective and the battle room again. Room A3 saw WV and EGCP battle, with the Vikings winning the battle and the Guardians winning the objective. Room B3 saw PIC, SP, and SR battle, with PIC taking both the room and objective victory.
This tournament would mark the beginning of WV’s rise following their lockdown and prompt reopening, with them taking home the S/M tournament for this event. Despite this, the Guardians were very close to a victory, falling only 2 points behind the Vikings—highlighting their newfound dominance following their reopening in January. Nevertheless, WV took home its first trophy of the year.

AROUND THE WORLD CUP II
The second tournament of the year was the Around the World Cup 2, which featured both an S/M and a Major winner. Part of the twist of the tournament was that all armies competed across different time zones, allowing for a wide variety of event times to take place. In the end, the Void Troops and the Scarlet Republic made it to the final, but following controversy, the Templars advanced to the finals instead. After a tense battle that eventually went into overtime, the Templars took home the victory, giving them their first tournament win of the year, even after their notable size drop.

SUMMER BLITZ
Summer Blitz was the first tournament of the year to feature only S/M armies, making it the first of its kind. Similar to last year’s Project Conquest: Blood Bowl, SB introduced a custom map that allowed S/M armies to invade land and eventually invade others’ land, with the main goal of holding the most territory by the end. After three weeks of intense battling and freeland invasions, the Romans, the Dark Warriors, SR, and the Penguins of Agartha all stood among the top armies remaining. The Dark Warriors, however, were able to successfully invade the most land and, as a result, won their first tournament as an S/M army, establishing their newfound dominance within the community following their reopening.

October Horrors
Continuing with the cycle of new tournaments, October Horrors served as this year’s Halloween tournament. This tournament was a one-day event with both qualifiers and finals occurring on the same day across different time zones. The S/M side of the tournament saw the Romans face the Special Weapons and Tactics, and the Witches of Club Penguin face the Phantom Republic. SWAT and PRCP advanced to the next round, with SWAT then facing the Dark Warriors and PRCP facing PIC. DW and PIC emerged victorious in these battles. In a close match, the Templars and PIC battled, leading to a PIC victory that brought them to the final battle. PIC and DW then brawled, and in another tight confrontation, the Dark Warriors took home their second tournament win of the year, once more highlighting the S/M powerhouse they had become.

Christmas Chaos
The final tournament of 2025, Christmas Chaos XV, is currently ongoing with the qualifiers just concluding and the quarter-finals now ahead of us. With this being the first-ever CC where there will be an S/M trophy for the army that makes it the farthest in the tournament, it certainly will be incredibly exciting to see the outcome and to see which army will be the first to achieve the S/M trophy in CC.
With the rebirth of S/M armies, it is evident that this year has been not only significant for tournaments but also for smaller armies. As the community is only growing with more faces, both old and new, within the S/M community, we are sure to continue to see new growth within the community. Who do you think will be the first army to receive the S/M CCXV trophy? Do you think there will be more growth for the S/M community?
