In an unexpected and surprising move, the Water Vikings High Council unanimously agreed to part ways with now-former Viking Commander Rye Bread. In this article, we aim to investigate the matter.

Moments ago, the Water Vikings‘ High Council of Vikings representative, Pjayo, issued a shocking announcement to the army and the wider community. In it, he announced that the now-former Viking Commander, Rye Bread, had been removed from the leadership position. In the announcement, Pjayo mentions: “While there had been prior issues, safety is of the utmost concern, and we have a zero tolerance policy regarding this. Rye will also be banned from WV indefinitely.”

Pjayo’s announcement in WV
Rye Bread spent more than a year occupying the seat of Viking Commander, officially joining the leadership on June 13, 2024. As a leader, she assisted the Vikings in many crucial moments in their recent history, such as their victory in last year’s Beach Brawl IV, their return to Major status in March after a month-long lockdown, and their successful run in Legends Cup XV and throughout the Summer. Nonetheless, what pointed to an outstanding retirement ultimately resulted in a sudden removal due to uncertain circumstances.

Water Vikings’ return event in February 2025
Recently, the Water Vikings were hit with a scandal involving a former staff member named Trails. The High Council released a public announcement detailing that he was released from his duties after inappropriate conduct was uncovered. The fact that Rye’s removal is shrouded in dubious circumstances, as well as it being consummated only a day later said staff was removed, may point to some sort of connection between these events.
Therefore, to clear all doubts, Club Penguin Armies reached out to Pjayo, WV HCOV representative.
Could you provide more context on what this safety concern revolves around?
Not without outing those involved, no.
Is there any way to provide more clarity without breaching confidentiality?
Rye handled material regarding this situation in a way that actively put those involved at further risk. WV, if nothing else, takes these matters incredibly seriously. From the moment we found out to making a final decision, I believe about half an hour had passed.
Is this related to the incident regarding your former staff, Trails, then?
Yes, it’s related to the situation regarding Trails.
How is WV ensuring safety and transparency for its members following this incident?
We shared what we could about the incident, and are highly discouraging speculation about who the victim may be. Rest assured something like this won’t happen again as long as I am breathing
What steps are being taken to prevent similar situations in the future?
Given the scale of what happened here, staff will very likely be receiving conduct training, and as for leaders, what I hope is that this serves as an example. You are not above morality.
Has a new leadership structure been decided yet?
Escot and Mato will remain leaders for the time being, and for now we’re all gonna pitch in a little harder to fill the gaps.
What message would you like to send to your community members at this time?
I’m deeply hurt by what Rye did, but WV will survive. All we can do now is put our best foot forward and keep our army safe and open for everyone. That sort of conduct has no place in WV.
We, as the community, are put in a place in which we can only wonder what Rye Bread might have done to deserve not only a removal, but also a banishment from the army. Nonetheless, Pjayo reaffirms that the Water Vikings have taken the necessary measures to ensure safety within the army, pointing to a relief among us. What do YOU think really transpired? Will we see Rye Bread venture into new armies?
