Club Penguin Army Judges is an organisation essential to the operation of modern armies. In this edition of Penguin Puzzlers, we put the community’s knowledge of this esteemed organisation to the test.

CPAJ Overview
Club Penguin Army Judges was founded on February 23, 2022, celebrating its third anniversary earlier this year. The organisation was created following the foundation of Club Penguin Armies, to serve as a centralised and unified space for judging.
CPAJ was established following an inadequate standard of judging present in Club Penguin Army Network, and Club Penguin Army Headquarters. Both organisations relied on internal judges, causing frequent issues and complaints, with leaders upset with the lack of formal judges for wars. This led Spotty to lay out plans to establish an official unified judging organisation.

History of Head Judges
When CPAJ was founded, the Head Judge team consisted of Spotty, Yvng, Lightningmcj, AustinFraud, and Popcorny. The first of the initial five to walk away was Lightning, being replaced by Paddy on June 21, 2022. Following Lightning’s departure, AustinFraud would be next to resign, ending his tenure on October 7, 2022, with Wynn stepping up to replace him.
Going into 2023, the Head Judge team remained consistent; however, this changed in April. Following her promotion to Administrator in December of the previous year, Wynn stepped down, with Mare replacing her on April 30.

Continuing into 2024, the HJ team saw its next departure on May 12, with Paddy choosing to retire. For the following two months the organisation went on with only four Head Judges, but on July 22, both Jojo Teri and Shpec were promoted to Head Judge in Training. These events foreshadowed the departure of Mare, who departed on August 4.
Popcorny would be the next to go, quietly leaving the team and the community as a whole. From here the Head Judges remained stagnant until July 2025. However, with the Golden Age of CPA beginning, Jojo decided to take a step back from judging to focus on his new role. On the same note, T_T was promoted to Deputy Head Judge.

High Flying Judges
Over the course of 2023, dozens of judges engaged with armies, supporting their activities and allowing for wars and tournaments to run smoothly. In an effort to show support for the hard work put in by CPAJ, Spotty created CPAJ Wrapped. Never before had the community seen such a way of displaying judgment statistics.
This year saw two Judges stand out from the rest for their high levels of activity. Both Spotty and Popcorny judged an incredible 58 battles each, showcasing their dedication and commitment to CPAJ. This year’s runner-up was Da Best, with 51 battles judged, and Shpec came in third with 50 battles.

2024: A Year in Review
2024 was an eventful year for CPAJ, with several new faces stepping up within the organisation. Alongside this, we also witnessed one of the longest wars of modern armies – The Centenary Solstice War. Consequently, we witnessed over a hundred battles, and set the stage for 2024 to go down in history as one of the most active years in terms of army conflict.
As a result of the plethora of wars held, 634 battles took place in 2024. The Army of Club Penguin alone took part in 162 battles, claiming the crown for most battles in a year. The Elite Guardians were close behind ACP, having 137 battles. Templars took third place, with a total of 99 battles held.

Conclusion
By looking at the statistical results, we can see that the community’s knowledge on CPAJ is rather extensive.
- Only 1/6 participants knew that CPAJ was founded on February 23, 2022
- Just 2/6 interviewees knew there was 11 Head Judges total: Spotty, Lightningmcj, AustinFraud, Popcorny, Yvng, Paddy, Wynn, Mare, Shpec, Jojo Teri, and T_T.
- Merely 2/6 responders knew that the longest standing Head Judges were Spotty and Yvng.
- All 6/6 who were asked correctly identified T_T as the newest Head Judge.
- Again all 6/6 participants recalled ACP had the most battles in 2024.
- None of those asked were able to correctly answer that both Spotty and Popcorny judged the most battles of 2023.
Overall, the participants had an accuracy rate of 47.2%.
Club Penguin Army Judges is a staple of modern armies, and who knows what the community would be like without it.
