cobra’S history

Cobra began playing Club Penguin in 2010 and discovered the army community in 2013. His first serious involvement in the community was as a member of the Rebel Penguin Federation. Though his time there was short, it served as his introduction to the community, which had a lasting impact on his career. Later on, Cobra found himself in the Nachos for a brief time before disappearing from the community for several years.

Return with the Dark Knights

After Club Penguin closed in 2017, he rejoined the community, enlisting in the Dark Knights Empire. In just a few weeks, he had achieved leadership during the War of Roman Subjugation and co-led the Underground Mafia’s Army-Dark Knight Empire coalition, as well as co-founded the New Viking Alliance. His meteoric rise in activity and influence was abruptly halted as DKE fell apart due to internal strife.

The Roman Triumvirate and Recognition

Cobra next joined the Club Penguin Crew, where he received war experience in the CPC-Roman War. After joining, he and his friend Clemont resurrected the Dark Knights and then merged them with the Romans. Cobra eventually rose to power within the Roman Triumvirate, revitalizing the Romans, increasing troop sizes, and leading the army to multiple war victories, earning the title of Most Influential Leader of 2018.

Wars, Alliances, and Small/Army Legend

Throughout 2018, Cobra was involved in multiple armies, from the Underground Mafia Army to the Templars, and was heavily involved in World War VII. He helped create the Red Dawn Alliance, which significantly impacted RPF, and is also responsible for the revival of the New Viking Alliance. Eventually, he became an administrator in the Club Penguin Army Syndicate and ultimately left in 2019. His efforts and activity during this era eventually earned him the title of Small/Medium legend.

A Builder in Turbulent Times

Cobra once again returned in 2020. He influenced the Recon Federation, Doritos, and Lime Green Army, and he had an impact on UMA’s culture. Cobra briefly served as a leader of the Templars before he resigned following a coup failure. He continued to be honored as a legend by both the Elite Guardians and UMA. Amid controversy and with his strong influence in armies, Cobra earned a reputation as a revitalizer and builder during a turbulent time.

SavageCobra, along with others, is listed as a UMA legend.

Leading the Elite Guardians

After a brief hiatus from the community, Cobra returned in 2024, leading the Elite Guardians, the army, to new heights. Leading the army to a war against their brother allies, the Winged Hussars. Additionally, Cobra helped to lead the army in what became known as the Centenary Solstice War, which, although it resulted in a loss, led to extreme growth for the army. Following his step down from leadership, he continued aiding the army until its shutdown in October of that year.

Viking Commander and Legacy

After the shutdown of the Guardians, Cobra joined the Water Vikings as a key HCOM and, on March 29, rose to Viking Commander. He brought stability and success, leading the army to the Semi-Finals of Legends Cup XV, where they eventually fell to the Rebel Penguin Federation. Under his command, the Water Vikings also hit new heights, topping the Top Ten multiple times. His journey comes full circle, leaving a legacy as a versatile, consistent leader who rebuilt, inspired, and set a standard for future generations.

VIKING RETIREMENT

On September 7, 2025, Cobra retired as leader of the Water Vikings, closing an era for the army. His decision, first considered after the Legends Cup, came from a wish to let his co-leaders and his HCOM team take charge. Cobra’s leadership marked a golden age for the Vikings, bringing record size and one of their strongest Legends Cup runs. More than victories, he built unity and camaraderie, lifting the army from near extinction back to prominence in 2025. Though stepping down, Cobra was honored as a WV Legend and will continue to advise, leaving his impact while focusing on real-life endeavors. His legacy of strength, passion, and community will help guide the next generation of Vikings.

RISE OF MATO

Mato, a longtime member of WV, joined the Vikings in December 2020. Starting as a dedicated troop, he steadily rose through the ranks, earning moderator and later high command positions. His consistent dedication was evident throughout his journey, earning him numerous accolades within the army. Mato’s dedication to the army is a significant factor in the army’s growth throughout the summer. Additionally, during the Fortune Gala, Mato was awarded Best Higher Command, highlighting his dedication to WV. On September 7, Mato was officially promoted to the title of Viking Commander during the Army’s Hall of Fame Ceremony, cementing a new era for WV.

Mato announced as the newest Viking leader

Club Penguin Armies had the opportunity to interview former WV leader Cobra and new WV leader Mato. Let’s find out what they had to say.

COBRAS INTERVIEW

What made you make this decision now and not sooner or later?

A few reasons made me retire now rather than later. Firstly, I set three specific goals during my leadership (rebuild WV, win LC, and set the army up for long-term success). While we did not win Legends Cup, essentially every goal was achieved, and even our lack of victory at Legends Cup was a marginal loss with several gains, if anything. I felt pretty complete with what we did and I feel my role as transitioning the army forward had reached the end. I probably would have continued leading if I was younger and not deep into university with a lot of projects on the way, but I think where things are left at right now should suffice.

Is there a possibility that you will get involved in another role in the future or return to leading the army?

I plan to remain a chief advisor at Water Vikings for a bit; I do not plan on returning to lead, but I suppose there is always the possibility. When it comes to media work, I intend on taking my administrator role at the wiki more seriously eventually, just like old times. Not sure if I want to pursue really any other venture outside of that.

How would you like your journey to be remembered by the community?

Not sure, to be honest. I’ve had a long career with a lot of moments that I’ve enjoyed thoroughly and that has amounted to a lot throughout the years. Quite frankly the only thing I care about legacy wise is just not being defamed like a specific peer in EGCP did to me. Even that doesn’t bother me much at the end of the day. I feel complete in what I have done in this community with the armies I’ve been in and with the friends I’ve made. If the armies that I’ve been in have benefitted in some way, that is all that matters.

MATOS INTERVIEW

How does it feel to step up as the new WV commander?

It feels great to finally reach commander. I first joined WV about 5 years ago, and have climbed up to leader rank by rank. It’s definitely exciting to now hold this title.

What’s one thing you’re most excited to bring to the army?

I’m most excited to bring new ideas and a new face to the leadership to continue helping the army thrive.

Any message you’d like to share with the troops?

You can accomplish anything you set your mind on. Keep working at it and you’ll get it eventually, take constructive criticism and learn from it. I know you’ll get there!

With Cobra resigning from the Commander position of the Water Vikings, a significant chapter in WV history is closed. Simultaneously, Mato’s promotion represents a new chapter for the army with new leadership and possibilities. How will Cobra’s retirement affect WV going forward? Do you think Mato will continue the path and lead the Vikings to more greatness?
