OVERVIEW

Armies have been considerably ramping up their practice sessions in preparation for Legends Cup XV. This year’s tournament is shaping up to be a grand one, and the armies around the league are hoping to win big. Among those hopefuls are the Army of Club Penguin and the Templars of Club Penguin. Both armies are titans around the community, and both hold Major status. On top of this, the two are right next to each other in the Top Ten ranks at the fourth and fifth spots. Accordingly, the armies met each other for a three-room skirmish that showcased each other’s potential nicely.

ROOM 1 – the dock

Starting the action, the Army of CP entered first, followed by the Templars. Immediately on entering, the Templars notably covered the room well. ACP opened with a clean backwards L while TCP had an underlined T that was very messy. This underlined T formation from the Templars also suffered from AFKs. Despite this, TCP held the size advantage at 25-22. Throughout their initial stages, ACP proved to be faster and showed better completion than TCP. The judges also noted that ACP had the better speed and tactics at this time. Moving on, both armies moved into new formations. The two formations from the armies were initially messy, but ACP’s was fixed faster while the Templars struggled to fix theirs. ACP had a neatly done A formation, and TCP was in an underlined V. Throughout this, the Templars still maintained their size advantage.

Breaking formation first, the Templars moved into an S form, while ACP chose not to defend and instead scattered. TCP then moved into an arrow form, while ACP settled into a plus. Ultimately, the room saw many issues from both sides. ACP had started strong, but TCP managed to cover more effectively. Since neither army bested the other, room one resulted in a tie.

ROOM 2 – cove

Entering room two, ACP struck first, with the Templars joining shortly after. ACP created an angle formation that came out messy, in contrast to TCP’s clean backwards L. Starting sizes were slightly in TCP’s favor at 20-19. Following the opening forms, TCP moved first into a plus formation. ACP did not defend TCP’s move. Afterwards, ACP moved and made an underlined T. TCP moved again, executing a diagonal wipe while showing off big word bubble tactics. The Templars then made a very nicely crafted underlined Y, with ACP forming a U. Sizes were 26-20 in favor of the Templars.

Building on their performance in room one, the Templars rebounded into room two as the more active army, executing very clean tactics and formations. The Templars also used their size effectively, showing good coverage over ACP. This seemed to slow ACP down, as they appeared slower and defended movements late. Decidedly, the Templars take room two.

ROOM 3 – forest

Once again, ACP entered first with TCP right behind them. ACP made a V formation while TCP made a U. Both armies then moved out of formation and carried out a waterfall. TCP then settled into an A form, with ACP making a plus that appeared messy. After this, the Templars had slowed down as an army, which allowed ACP to gain a coverage advantage. However, the sizes were 24-20 TCP, which still managed to dominate the previous form set. Closing out the room, TCP executed a rake that caught ACP in a slow defense. ACP then moved and fixed their discoordination and made an I formation. Throughout this, TCP was faster and continued to cover ACP. In a similar performance to room two, the Templars win room three and are declared the winners.

Head Judge Jojo Teri’s ruling on the battle

This practice battle proved to be an engaging and competitive matchup. While room one saw both sides clash with aggressive tactics and forms, the Templars of Club Penguin found their rhythm in the later stages. However, the Army of CP showed they can hit hard, shaking the Templars a few times. In the end, both armies showed solid preparation and strengths as they gear up for this year’s famed Legends Cup. What would you have done differently in this battle? Do you think the armies will be ready in time for the Legends Cup? Do you think the armies are practicing enough?
