In a sudden move that surprised many, the creator of Romans, Djgtjvgyhxgy, has announced his departure from the community, as he promotes new Legates. In this article, we aim to shed some light on what sparked this curious leave.

On this very day, the founder of the Romans, Djgtjvgyhxgy, wrote a shocking announcement concerning his departure from the army and the community as a whole. The now-former leader expressed that there were several reasons behind his departure, some of which were internal. He decided not to delve into these, ‘for the sake of civility’, in his words.
Additionally, he issued some structural changes in the army moments before his departure. First, he promoted Monstah to the rank of Legate, the leadership position in Romans. Dj defined him as the most active and motivated HCOM, placing confidence in his ability to lead Romans into their new era. Secondly, he also granted Monstah and Bull Hour the title of co-owners, revoking Dino’s, and Small/Medium Army Legends SavageCobra‘s and Ulysses Nardo’s co-ownership status. Dj claimed this is to prevent further disruption of the Romans.

Dj announces his retirement; Pontificate promises clarification
Aiming to further understand the circumstances surrounding this event, Club Penguin Armies contacted Romans Pontif Nardo and Army Legend Twitchy, Romans Consul. Both provided interesting statements. Pontif SavageCobra declined an interview.
Ulysses Nardo, Romans Pontif: Dj repeatedly made major decisions about the Romans army without consulting the other guardians or leadership. In the few moments when he did invite feedback, criticism was disregarded. This pattern of unilateral control left the rest of us with no meaningful voice in the direction of the army we had worked together to sustain.
The Maple Eagle Union was created to address that imbalance. Our aim was to secure Dj’s support for a proposed Constitution that would formalize power-sharing and prevent any one individual from overriding the collective will of the leadership. It was a peaceful effort to protect the future of the army by ensuring it was governed by shared responsibility, not dictatorial control.
In response, Dj has told others that we attempted a coup. That’s not what happened. What we did was organize, make our concerns known, and request a meeting. It’s no different from signing a petition asking for a head of state to embrace power-sharing with the legislature and to uphold democratic norms. We came to the table with respect, not rebellion.
We never intended to remove Dj from the army. We respect his place in Romans history and the role he played in shaping the modern iteration of the army. But what followed was betrayal. Loyal contributors, we who kept the army alive during his decade-long hiatus, were punished for simply asking to be heard.
Dj had a choice. He could have worked with us to build something lasting, built on trust and shared ownership. Instead, he made clear that compromise was off the table. In doing so, he shattered the very unity that we were trying to preserve.
On the validity of Dj’s final leadership changes in Romans, here is what Twitchy said:
Twitchy, Romans Consul: I can tell you at least for clarification purposes that Dj’s word is final since he’s regarded as the founder of the army, everything beyond that has just been attempts by the ownership (myself when he’s not around, both of us when he is) & co-ownership to keep things running smoothly. Although I will note there have been discussions by the new leaders/co-owners to bring those who have been revoked back.
In this turmoil, it seems it was a power struggle within the army that caused Dj’s departure. Now, under new leadership and ownership, we can only speculate if the Romans will stabilize. What do you, dear reader, make of this?
