In Overworked and Underpaid, we aim to interview designers, learn more about them, and have them share their journeys and design advice. In this edition, we sat down with PingoBoiii to learn more about his design journey and understand his various graphic connections within the community.

PingoBoiii began his design journey in 2021, drawing doodles and improving his art over time. His journey in Club Penguin Armies began in 2022, when he started making emotes and graphics for the Revolutionaries. After that, PingoBoiii began creating graphics for other small and medium armies, further strengthening his skills along the way.

Pingo furthered his involvement in the community in 2023. He applied to both the Club Penguin Armies and Club Penguin Army Battleground graphics teams, securing positions on both shortly after. During his time as a graphic designer, Pingo produced numerous thumbnails for CPA and created various other designs for the organization. He stepped down later that year. Then, in 2024, he chose to return to the CPA art team, this time as a cartoonist. He believed that his distinctive style would resonate well within the comic board. Since then, his comics have been typically entertaining, occasionally controversial, and consistently showcasing his artistic talent and flair for using humor in creative and engaging ways.

A Quick Chat With PINGO
Club Penguin Armies reached out to Pingo to learn more about his journey as a designer and cartoonist for the community.
What do you believe was one of your most complex/difficult designs? How did you overcome it?
Probably just anatomy in general, ever since joining the comic board, ive switched my outline to be a specific brush cause i felt like it could give really funny outcomes depending on the pose, so that itself is a challange. Also trying to not make everything look the same ig, but i dont really feel that for now.
Are there any designs that you are exceptionally proud of? If so, which ones?
There are some that I’ll look at, say that im “the bomb” and the go back to doing whatever pingo activities I was doing, but its not like its some exceptional thing, gotta say tho, doing 2023 census graphics was cool. And honestly, if I get to trash the army I’m talking about in the comic, that alone makes me more happy than the comic itself 💀.
Looking back, what do you think about the growth and progress you have made regarding your designs?
Pretty good, wasn’t expecting to get good at l’arts at all, wasnt really my thing growing up, but at the same time i’ve made it my thing growing up (yknow cause I was still a baby when I started ong), I really just doodled here and there over army propoganda and schizophrenia posts on #cpa-memes (no ugly IM THE REAL SCHIZOPHRENIC)
A Round Of Advice
To conclude this post, Club Penguin Armies asked Pingo if he had any advice for those wishing to get into art themselves.
Jokepost. Jokepost the HELL out of everything, if you jokepost, you become not only funny, but also good at drawing, so I ENCOURAGE you to just jokepost, im not the type of person who can anatomically draw things, but if I’m told to draw penguins now then good GOD I can draw a good penguin (ish). Also just make funny injokes that no one will understand cause not even the people who approve my comics get it half the time and people still laugh or tell me I suck (looking at you “SS” freedom fighters) but we cook, and to cook, you need a kitchen, so idk get a kitchen.
I had a wonderful time sitting down with Pingo and learning more about his various ventures within design in the community. We hope that Pingo’s advice regarding his design process has inspired anyone interested in joining the graphics team. We at CPA thank Pingo for all of his contributions to the community. What do you think is the most difficult part of creating thumbnails? What aspect of Pingo’s journey resonated the most with you?
