Zemerick and Bull Hour created the Mercenaries on December 18, 2021, however, they officially opened the army on January 9, 2022. The first generation was under the helm of Bull Hour, alongside Midnight and Greeny. They grew rapidly and clashed with the Templars, the Red Ravagers, and the Magma Clan to assert their presence. Krosive and Toxic Storm briefly led the army before the shutdown. The Mercenaries later reopened on January 15, 2025.

Before the creation of the Crimson Sovereign, Fruit Salad served the Army of Club Penguin as a Moderator in 2021. After three years of being inactive, he rejoined the ACP in 2024, later serving the Water Vikings, TCP, Dark Pirates, Scarlet Republic, and Fire Vikings. In particular, he acted as a Leader in Training for DPC. He assisted them during the Candy Crusher Brawl tournament before YellowTyper went inactive. On April 16, the Crimson leader made a public announcement, thus beginning the alliance between the two armies.

Club Penguin Armies contacted Fruit Salad and Midnight to answer some questions regarding their alliance.
What are the reasons behind forming this alliance?
Fruit Salad: I belive the alliance will hold great things between both armies to help both of them grow. The alliance will be able to help both armies grow from a army people looked down on.
Midnight: Looking for allies, Crimson Sovereign looked like a nice new army so we chose to ally with them.
What efforts are being made to integrate the communities beyond mere battle coordination?
Fruit Salad: To help both armies be able to grow as individuals and as people of a community to support each other.
Midnight:No comment.
Do you have plans to expand the alliance to include other armies?
Fruit Salad: Yes
Midnight: Unsure at the moment
Any Final Statements?
Fruit Salad: Don’t look down apon people you don’t know and what they can accomplish
Midnight: We’re still alive and kicking, just back from hiatus
In conclusion, the alliance might be beneficial for both armies in the long run. We expect to see them grow together and learn from each other. Will this alliance become a great force in the Small/Medium scene? Will they compete in the upcoming tournaments together?
