On February 25, 2025, the Golden Troops released a post discussing the army’s shutdown and its possible revival. In this post, we will look into the army’s legacy and the reasons behind the post.

— a golden Legacy —
initial generations
In March 2010, two armies, the Sun Troops and the Golden Warriors, merged to form the Golden Troops. The army soon rose to greatness, peaking at second in Club Penguin Army Central behind the Army of Club Penguin. After taking the community by storm, in October of that year, GT merged into Team Gold due to leadership issues in the army and difficulty placing first in the weekly Top Ten. Two months later, some former GT leaders recreated the army. These include Sercan 44444, Jerry2cool, Ganger90, Riotors, and Flipper776, who all helped restore the army to its former glory. Later on, internal conflicts within its leadership led to the conclusion of GT’s second generation in June 2011.

At a later time, Ganger, Jerry, Sercan, Riotors. and Saiyamanxc began to rebuild GT, and it rose very rapidly. After months of hard work, GT was able to max 40+ and place first on Top Ten consistently. GT’s then-brother-allies, ACP, were unhappy with their success in the rankings. Soon after, however, they began to drop in Top Tens, eventually shutting down once more. Fortunately, the army returned shortly after with Tap Dancer36 and Surferboysc, reviving and leading the army.

Weeks later, Godfather Jerry returned to formally revive the army and lead alongside Lord Pain, Wgfv, Riotors, and Surferboysc. Pain declared war on the Underground Mafias Army, but many GT troops sided with UMA, resulting in Pain’s eventual removal from leadership. In 2012, Blue Brothers and Tap Dancer36 couped Ganger and Jerry, resulting in Jerry’s retirement and Ganger leaving for Special Weapons and Tactics. This era of GT died in May that year due to unstable leadership, low recruitment, and losing to a smaller army in the Legends Cup. The post stated that this was not a permanent closure, and a revival was on the horizon.
final generations
GT soon found themselves in conflict with the Pirates’ ally, the Light Troops. After this war concluded, things settled down, and GT quietly grew in size. However, owing to the age-old grudge held by the army’s leadership against ACP due to several accusations from ACP a year prior, GT scheduled an invasion of Klondike. However, the situation was diffused, and the battle never occurred. A full account of the situation can be found here. The Troops began to decrease in size due to leaders going on leave/retiring. Later, on February 23, 2013, the army shut down again for unspecified reasons.

In June of that year, Lord Pain attempted to revive GT with hopes of it becoming a permanent army, though Godfathers Jerry and Ganger disagreed on whether it should be revived. Additionally, former GT troops were either retired or focused on their new armies. In the end, with Lord Pain joining the Rebel Penguin Federation, the “false GT“ never reopened. Barring their short revival in 2014, which ended within a few months, the Golden Troops never came back for another generation during the original Club Penguin Army era.
In April 2020, TheMightyA received permission from Sercan, alongside fellow ex-DCP Higher Command and Staff Fluffy, Katie, Aggiepie, Satchmo, Rach, PurpleFlaw, and Frozy, who were collectively known as the “Founding 8” of GT’s CPPS era. Other notable leaders during this era include Kattle11, Neha, and Simmonds2000. The army went through two generations in the coming years, eventually shutting down on October 2, 2021.

— Revival Conditions —
Last week, TheMightyA, a former leader of GT, suddenly released a post discussing the army’s shutdown and conditions should it ever return. It outlined the detailed ground rules for anyone looking to revive the army.

GT Revival Conditions
This post was very much out of the blue and certainly surprised many in the community. We at Club Penguin Armies reached out to Mighty for an interview to find out more.
What was the reason for this sudden post?
I was getting a lil bit more active again in the army community during the DCP-ACP war, and during such I had several army community members in my DMs asking me, some joking some serious, about GT revivals. Kinda made me nostalgic about our gen a few years back and I felt the need to keep the site updated and archived, along with actually address those serious about a revival, so I made that yap fest 😭
Do you see GT ever making a return to the community in future?
It would take a lot of contingencies but it’s definitely not impossible. The same way I went ahead and asked Sercan for perms no one ever had bothered to get before someone could easily do it again. It’s not my army, so it’s not in my control, But I feel an obligation to ensure its legacy stays preserved and intact, with every other godfather sort of gone. But as long as they’re dedicated like we were and Serc approves, it’s for sure possible.
Any final statement for the community?
I’ve yapped enough to the army community already 😂, Hell will be unleashed!
This information has certainly instilled hope in the community for a tenth generation of the Golden Troops. The army accomplished a lot in the past, and if they do choose to return, we are all excited to see what they have to offer. What do you think? Would you like GT to make a comeback?
