The first-ever Christmas Chaos in 2011 sparked an unforgettable holiday battle, reshaping the future of Club Penguin Armies. In this edition of Picture Perfect, we dive into the key moments and fierce rivalries that made this tournament a legendary start to an annual tradition.
The first Christmas Chaos was conceived in December 2011. This historic tournament, organized by Club Penguin Army Central, brought together 24 armies for intense and thrilling battles from December through to January, converging in a three-way final at the end. Notable armies that participated included the Ice Warriors, Army of Club Penguin, Nachos, and the Dark Warriors. These battles showcased strategic skill and fostered a strong sense of community and competition among the participants, leaving an enduring legacy in the world of Club Penguin Armies, which we can see as the tournament now enters its 14th year. Now, let us dive into the battles that made this tournament truly unforgettable.
Round One
In the first round, the Club Penguin Crew were set to face the Nachos. However, the Club Penguin Crew did not show up, so the Nachos automatically won. The Arctic Defenders defeated the Shadow Troops to progress to the next round. Following this, ACP went up against the Elites, who also failed to attend. As a result, the Clovers secured an easy win with their size exceeding 30 troops.
Meanwhile, the Sky Troops fought the Watex Warriors, who dominated in size and tactics, leading to their victory. On the other hand, the Sun Troops battled the Ninjas. Despite the Sun Troops reaching sizes of 10+ toward the end, the Ninjas, who peaked at around 15, always had the upper hand and secured the win. Three Night Warriors members faced SWAT, who did not show up, resulting in a win for NW. The Ice Warriors faced the Water Raiders, who did not show up either, allowing the Ice Warriors to win with an impressive max of 45.
Additionally, the Ninja Freedom Force faced the Dark Warriors in the fifth battle. Although both armies had similar sizes, making it a close match, the Ninja Freedom Force won due to better tactics. Subsequently, the Metal Warriors went up against Team Gold. Team Gold, with sizes of 10+, impressed the judges and advanced easily.
Next, the Light Troops faced the CP Flyers, who were a no-show. Despite this, the Light Troops achieved sizes of 25+. The Rebel Penguin Federation took on the Golden Troops in the first round. The Golden Troops arrived 10 minutes late and were outnumbered, but fought hard. RPF took home the win in the end due to their better tactics. The final match of the round was between the Tacos and the Water Vikings. This battle proved to be one of the closest in the tournament, with a size difference of five. The Tacos narrowly won due to their superior tactics.
QuarterFinals
In the Quarterfinals, the RPF faced Team Gold. Despite being outnumbered at the start, the Rebels secured a win, thanks to effective tactics and size advantage. Meanwhile, the Nachos encountered the Arctic Defenders, earning a decisive victory as AD failed to show. This was followed by the Light Troops facing the Night Warriors and winning as NW surrendered. The final battle of the Quarter Finals saw IW meeting the Tacos, continuing their winning streak with superior tactics and coordination.
One battle in this round caused the first controversy of the tournament. The Army of Club Penguin went up against the Watex Warriors, with the armies maxing 30 and 20 respectively. The judges boldly declared the battle as ACP’s victory early on in the fight, causing an uproar. CPAC’s solution in the end was to let both armies advance to the next round, to fight in a three-way battle alongside the Nachos.
Semifinals
In the Semifinals, the Army of Club Penguin faced the Watex Warriors and the Nachos. Despite ACP having the highest max of 50, the Nachos came out on top with 35 troops due to their tactics. In the next battle, RPF took on the Ninjas, with the Ninjas winning thanks to their slim size advantage. The final battle of the semifinals saw the Ice Warriors face off against the Light Troops. The Light Troops maxed at 30, while the Ice Warriors surprised everyone with a max of 75. The Ice Warriors emerged victorious and moved on to the finals.
