THE LONG, WINDING ROAD

Cobra began his Club Penguin journey in the Fall of 2010 but did not dedicate himself to it until 2012. In 2013, Cobra became significantly more active and joined his first army. Joining the Rebel Penguin Federation in December 2013, however, two months later he was removed from the active count. At this time, Cobra was also a rogue for the Nachos of Club Penguin.

It was not until the Club Penguin Private Servers era that he would truly make a name for himself in CPA. During the Club Penguin Rewritten Operation Blackout Party EmperorFlame/Color50 recruited him. This led to SavageCobra joining the Dark Knight Empire‘s second generation. Quickly rising through the ranks, Cobra achieved third in command. This is where Cobra would make many great friends such as Clemont4, Dillon, and Zeke. On December 4, 2017, Cobra gained promotion to leader of DKE after Clemont4’s betrayal and Flame’s abdication.

After Cobra became leader, the Romans declared war on the Underground Mafias Army and the DKE (brother allies at the time). This led to Dillon, Zeke, Games (recently fired from Romans), and Cobra forming the UMA-DKE alliance. Cobra simply describes this war (known as the War of Roman Subjugation) as “fun”. Cobra was working behind the scenes with Moonlocks to form the first generation of the New Viking Alliance. Following these events, the war continued, with Dillon and SavageCobra doing most of the work on the UMADKE side. Notable events from this war include the battle following Elmikey being coupled, and a battle that Cobra dubs the “Godly Battle of Deep Freeze”, lasting 2+ hours. Unfortunately, following this war, internal power struggles within DKE forced its closure.

Emerging Conflicts

Despite this unfortunate loss, Cobra powered on and continued as leader of NVA, also taking a leadership position within the United Republic of Penguins. Here Moonlocks and Cobra assembled a council of armies. This council included the Club Penguin CrewElite Guardians of Club Penguin, and the Tubas. The NVA from this point onwards had the goal of targeting the RPF, and the Romans.

Cobra joined the CPC for a 3ic position, whilst also leading URP (although he admits he was not as productive as a leader as he could have been). In early January 2018, the EGCP, the Crew, and the URP came together to end UMA. Annoyed at Dillon being an incompetent dictator, the army leaders ganged up on him. Fighting on Virtual Penguin, with a key battle being the Battle of Walrus. Following this battle (which UMA lost), the EGCP proceeded to invade all their other land, ending this conflict.

Shifts in Leadership

Around the time of the URP defacement, SavageCobra received a promotion to 2ic of the Crew. Sadly, the NVA also faded away during this time. The Romans and the Club Penguin Crew went to war, but the Romans emerged victorious after the Crew was hijacked and defaced. Many CPC Refugees joined Romans, Cobra was no exception. Joining for the rank of Prefect (3ic). At this time, however, Romans were dying, so in February 2018, Cobra and Guta rebelled against the Romans. Essentially creating the Dark Knight Empire once again.

Following this, UMA declared war on DKE, due to Zeke defacing the UMA website. This led to the Romans and DKE merging into as Cobra puts it, the “Dark Knight Romans”, with Cobra as a leader. This led to a war between the Underground Mafias and the new Romans-DKE merge. This war was put to an end, however, when a greater target was realized. The Elite Guardians of Club Penguin. Another reason this war was not long-lasting was due to the Romans being defaced by RPF (most likely due to Cobra being the leader of the Romans, and him being staunchly anti-RPF). This led to Romans slowly dying, and Cobra jumping ship to the EGCP for 3ic (however briefly). Following this, SavageCobra took a short break from Club Penguin.

Rejoining on June 30, 2018, by enlisting in the Club Penguin Online era of UMA. However, he found this pointless and landed at the in July. This is the pivotal moment where Cobra turned from Small/Medium armies to Major ones. Although he is recognized as a leader, Cobra was an advisor and later 2ic, however he fulfilled leadership duties. This led to the RPF-TCP war, which was prosperous for TCP as they were maxing sizes of around 20. However, they were still losing and halted any advances. Pumping out propaganda, recruiting, and having a great time, Cobra claims it to be one of his happiest periods in CPA.

The Major Shift in Power

Around this time, SavageCobra joined the Pizza Federation as an advisor and modernized the army. Circling back to Templars, Cobra pushed for the EGCP to join them in war. Cobra managed to push the RPF back, which was a watershed moment in this war. This led to RPF losing a battle later that very same day, and then invading a PZF event hosted by CPO. Around this time, TCP started getting assistance from the likes of Freezie, Reacon, and Epic101. EGCP also promoted Cobra to HCOM during this period.

Things started heating up in the anti-RPF movement. Cookky, Xing, Elmikey, Edu, and Cobra formed a groupchat, to form an alliance. They also convinced Shinzo, and his Socialist Movement to join. This group chat evolved into large-scale war plans and the creation of the Red Dawn Alliance. This alliance would max sizes of 70+. This conflict would go on to be known as World War VII. After a few more armies joined the cause against RPF, a few battles occurred but nothing much took place. Not too long later, Epic defaced the RDA, and the war ceased. Following the RPF’s closure, the NVA emerged victorious.

Following the RPF war, SavageCobra was in limbo. Working extensively on both the EGCP and the TCP, however he left these armies in October 2018. Cobra returned in December 2018 to participate in Christmas Chaos and the TCP-EGCP war. During this time, Cookky and Cobra revived the NVA, to fight the Pirates. However, the NVA kicked out the Templars from their alliance. This led to two rebellions inside the TCP, one of which formed the Winged Hussars. Cobra, appreciating the Hussars’ cooperation, asked the NVA to war solely against the Templars. This led to both Edu and SavageCobra being advisors of the WH.

EGCP “beating up a traitor army” circa 2018

This war with the Templars is what put the New Viking Alliance on the map, so to speak. It also led to a mass migration away from CPO. Around this time, Cobra also became an administrator in the Club Penguin Army Syndicate. Within CPAS, Cobra’s main role was to handle league information, regarding territories, battle disputes, and the like. Unfortunately, the league shut its doors due to several issues, around the same time Cobra gained his CPA legend status, in March 2019.

All these misfortunes led to SavageCobra taking a break from CPA until August. Returning to the EGCP, Cobra took on a more diplomatic role. Representing them in the Club Penguin Armies: The Game. During this same period, Cobra was an influential figure in the Recon FederationDuring 2020, SavageCobra mainly advised armies such as Doritos and the Lime Green Army.  Also during this time, Cobra did a lot of work with the Eastern Hancock Underground Mafias Army culture/troll group. This was a beacon of old-school army humor shining through in a generation where it was dying.

Following on, Templars inducted Cobra as a leader. He led alongside Shadow, and Dino advised the pair. Two weeks into his role, Templars were back to their major army status. Cobra introduced many reforms, doing a lot of good work. A coup was plotted by Cobra, due to Xing’s micromanagement. This failed, and Cobra left TCP shortly after. Not too long after, Cobra was given a PZF legend, and on the first birthday of EGCP following their closure, he was honored as an Elite Guardians legend. Cobra was spending a lot of time with Dino, Games, and Zamb. This led to the 2020 UMA generation, and following some controversy, it became a formidable medium-sized army. Following this, the EGCP closed, due to a controversy. UMA then honored Cobra with legend status due to his cultural work. After his installation as a legend and closure of EGCP, Cobra retired.

In 2023, Cobra returned to CPA, to the EGCP. Helping behind the scenes, assisting with diplomacy mainly, whilst also giving a hand with reforms and creating the UEGCP, an officer training school. Rejoining EGCP in February 2024, Cobra hoped to justify his legend status, by mostly training troops for war. This led to EGCP winning the Around the World Cup.

Army Achievements

Due to Cobra’s long Army career, he has an extensive list of awards to his name. It is impossible to say which is his most important achievement, but certainly one of them is his EGCP leader and legend status. Another one of his notable achievements is his Legend status within Templars for being a leader, as well as notably advising. Other smaller, yet still very respectable achievements include PZF owner, head advisor, and legend. His time in the UMA as a leader, and subsequently legend. His longtime history in DKE, within his first leadership position within CPA. And finally, his time spent with the Romans as a leader.

Whilst most of his commendations are army-specific, he also has several media and community honors. These include his time spent as a Club Penguin Army Wiki Administrator and Bureaucrat. As well as his tenure as a Club Penguin Army Syndicate Administrator. Possibly his most well-known award of all is his Small/Medium Army Legend status.

Club Penguin Armies has taken the opportunity to chat with Cobra, as he shared his favourite moments and enjoyable times from his past.

You’ve been involved in armies for many years now. What has kept you coming back all these times?

Like everyone else has said throughout history, armies are like a drug. To give you the specific reasons why I kept returning – it’s because my work isn’t finished. I ended off on a cliff hanger when I left every time. However, I did tell others the only way I’d ever return to armies is if EGCP came back, and I kept my word in that regard.

You just stated that your work isn’t finished. Is there anything in particular you would like to achieve?

Bringing the Water Vikings back to their former glory and complete the legends’ goals of achieving where they fell short at.

What has been your most memorable moment over the long span of your CPA career?

I guess if I had to pick one specific moment out of my entire career, I’d say World War VII. That was a moment where a lot of people came together to fight the largest army at the time (one that we saw as the main enemy), and we succeeded by proving to them all that it could be done; and that if you rely on arrogance as your ally – you will fail. I am proud to have been one of the key figures in that moment in history, and the memories and friendships that I made during that time have forever impacted my career and me as a person.

If you were able to turn back the clock to change one thing you did, what would it be?

I could list a bunch of stupid mistakes that I made. While I am sure that going back in time to fix these mistakes would certainly have (I suppose) more favorable outcomes, I wouldn’t change anything. I’ve come to gripes with my CPA career, and all have led me to where I am now. Remorse, yes; regrets, no.

To any CPA newcomers, what is one piece of advice you would offer?

Read CPA history. You can’t have true passion in this community without knowing how we got to where we are now. Take that history knowledge, find out what you love in armies, and seek to perfect it. Never be content with being complacent.

Any final words?

God bless.

In conclusion, we can see how Cobra has shaped generations of army members. Surely one of the greatest leaders of all time, and most certainly one for the history books. But what do you think of his leadership? Is he one of the best, or just another average army leader? Will he ever live up to his past successes, or merely retire once more?
