DINO’S ARMY JOURNEY

Dino started his army journey in January 2015, when he joined the Dark Warriors. However, after being recruited there in autumn, his first event was with the Rebel Penguin Federation. He quickly soared up the ranks, becoming a moderator within a few months. Despite his activity, he left the community for a significant duration, where he would return to the army scene in mid-2017. His return to RPF witnessed him reaching General, where he remained with inconsistent activity until December 2019.

Dino then briefly joined the Army of Club Penguin as a moderator in January 2020. From this began his leadership journey, where Dino became leader of the Romans in January. In April 2020, he shifted to leadership of the Lime Green Army for a month, retiring in May. Following his retirement, he joined the Doritos as a Second-in-Command in June, where he became leader of the army in August. His tenure with the Doritos was short-lived, as he retired from leadership the same month. Dino then joined the Underground Mafias Army leadership in November, retiring in December. Additionally, Dino has led a range of armies in the Small/Medium circle, ultimately retiring from leadership at the end of December.

Dino returned to the army scene in May 2022, where he joined the Water Vikings’ High Command. With the experience he had with the army, being one of its first advisors in mid-2020, he earned leadership in September 2022, succeeding Aaronstone. Unlike his past leadership tenures, he led the Vikings for a significant duration until June 2024.

Dino is also known for his contributions to army leagues and the overall army community. He is most famous for his administration of the Club Penguin Army Wiki, as its Bureaucrat. Dino has also served as the Vice President of Club Penguin Army Media, as well as various positions in other media organisations. Additionally, Dino has served as Club Penguin Armies’ Head of Branding and Community Committee Head. Furthermore, he has been a designer for Club Penguin Army Battleground.

Achievements

Army Leadership

In his multiple leadership tenures, Dino was able to participate in wars and tournaments. In his leadership with the Lime Green Army, he participated in World War Rewritten. However, his most significant legacy in leadership lies with the Water Vikings. Dino pioneered the Vikings to be the best army of March, May and June in 2023, with multiple #1 streaks on the Top Ten armies. Furthermore, he was the primary leader of the Blue Sunset Alliance during World War IX.

Dino’s leadership with the Water Vikings has also resulted in tournament victories to their name. The Vikings were runner-ups in the AUSIA Arena II tournament. They were then deemed champions of the Christmas Chaos XIII tournament in late 2023. In March 2024, they were able to secure yet another tournament victory, winning the March Madness IX tournament. Under his leadership, the Water Vikings were able to push forth as a noteworthy force in the Major army circle.

For his outstanding impact with the Water Vikings, Dino was nominated as a Major Army Legend. Furthrermore, he had also earned Person of The Year runner-up, titled “The Young Historian”. Additionally, he is also inducted as one of CPA’s “Memorable Members”, for his contributions to the league.

You’ve been around in the army community for some time. What would you say kept you around for so long?

What has kept me around is a drive to improve every time. CPA has been a part of my life since I was basically 8-9 so I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for it.

Across all your experiences in your journey, which stands out to you as your most memorable moment?

A few months ago I would’ve said AUSIA Arena finals, but honestly I think the most memorable moment was the MM finals against RPF. I remember we were all freaking out over a max 60 and the prospect of beating RPF. It was so amazing. Definitely can never forget it.

If you could go back in time, is there anything you would change about your journey in the past?

As I’ve hinted to in previous interviews, I’d 100% undo the tons of unethical and immature behavior I did in 2020 including a few things I did in early September 2020. I was a reckless 13 year old and while I do not feel comfortable talking about the incidents directly, in hindsight they were inexcusable. That’s why I have committed myself to the anti-corruption cause and helped others with safety as I feel the only way we can change from our sinful past is acknowledge our mistakes and through our actions prove we have changed. It’s also admittedly why I do care a lot about self-image since I don’t want to be my past self that was outcast. I don’t like others being a fool like me which is why I try to intervene ASAP.

Would you say that your army campaign had more of an impact on the community or yourself, and why is that?

Depends. I think my impact on community is overstated by some people which is why I don’t consider myself a legend and am against my nominations, but I do feel like I have done things to improve the community for a better. I am no Rowan in terms of the Wiki but I have championed the beginning of a gradual transition to eventually having the wiki be built off citations so that way the wiki can be trusted. I’m very meticulous with my edits which is why I edit so infrequently. I also think my map reforms proposed last winter and implemented this spring has been a major success for the competitiveness of the army meta. I think my campaign has had a bigger impact on me as a person, though. I have learnt from both my successes and my mistakes (some of which like I said were very awful ones). It’s helped me mature quicker as a person both IRL and in CPA.

What final advice do you have for the aspiring achievers of CPA’s future generations?

I eventually plan to expand/rewrite Shadow2446‘s 101 Tactics and Tips for the modern age one day so I do invite readers to stay tuned for that (whenever I get the chance) but some key advice I’d give is the following:
1. Do not underestimate your opponents but do not count yourself out. Ask yourself this: what do you have to gain from signing up to a tournament or declaring war if you feel you might not win? Never, ever count out your opponent and keep beef to just the battle (Shadow2446 39 and 41). Getting too cocky will cause you to lose. That’s what all my opponents in tournaments did against WV and it only motivated our troops to work harder. That said, if you have the mindset you can’t win, don’t be afraid not to sign up. If you’re signing up for a tournament or going into a war, ALWAYS have the mindset that you can prove everyone wrong if you put in the extra mile.
2. Pave your own future. I recommend all aspiring achievers to take interest in CPA’s greats and learn from their examples including how they strategized for their battles, how they did army psychology, and had the passion. That said, Omega39 in 2015 put it best: “Don’t try to be a Commando717. Don’t try to be a Shadow2446. Don’t try to be a Woton. Be yourselves and offer this community what no one has done before. Build your own legacies.” A lot of leaders I’ve spoken to have expressed to me they feel they don’t live to the legacy of bigger legends in their armies like say Boomer for ACP. But, all eras are different. Of course being a great leader like Boomer is amazing and you should learn to be like him but don’t be another Boomer or have the mentality that you’re somehow bad because your good tenure is overshadowed by subjectively better ones. Pave your own future. These greats we speak of had nothing to look towards, so why should you stress about being another person? You’ll only fail yourself and your army if you try to make others. Uniqueness is rewarded, not shunned.
3. Be creative with your battles. Take the time to do the nitty gritty into planning for your battles. Think of the formations you’ll be doing in advance. Yes, you don’t know what rooms you’ll get, what max you’ll have, or what the other army will max. But always try to think two steps ahead of your opponents and show your tactical brilliance. That’s how WV beat its opponents in tournaments despite smaller maxes.
3. Work as a team. I was blessed in my WV tenures I had leaders like Mabel, Cabin, and Jojo (and in other armies people like Cobra, Zamb, Games, Nardo, and Smurf) and ultimately you will need to be work as an unit. I know everyone credits me for everything WV and I was undeniably the main strategist/leader of that successful stretch but I depended on those three as much as they depended on me. Mabel was a massive duo partner for almost a full year, Jojo was a great recruiter/motivator that could easily fill my mold, and Cabin doesn’t get enough love man. Give credit to your partners when it is due (Shadow2446 101) and give yourself some credit too.
There is so much more advice I can yap about and I’m willing to give anyone advice if they approach me. But those four main points are crucial! 😀

Dino’s dynamic leadership, sharp strategic vision, and steadfast commitment have cemented his place as a prominent figure in the Club Penguin army community. As a leader, he guided his army through pivotal moments, setting standards for excellence and inspiring those around him. Dino’s legacy lives on through the countless members he mentored and the strong foundation he built. In your view, what was the most impactful part of Dino’s leadership?
