Following a monumental victory against the Elite Guardians, Army of Club Penguin leaders Roxy and Ugly earned their army’s Silver Medal Award. Let us discover what this means for them as they are immortalised in ACP’s history.
On August 30, the Centenary Solstice War concluded. Subsequently, former Army of Club Penguin Commander and present Advisor CSY announced awarding the Silver Medal Award to ACP Commanders Roxy and Ugly. In the announcement, he cites multiple reasons why these awards were deserved. CSY lists their performance in the war against the Elite Guardians as a deciding factor. The war score was finalized at 64-1-39 [W-L-T], in favor of ACP. The Commanders led through a whopping 104 battles, unheard of in the CPPS era.
CSY appreciated Ugly for having attended all of the 104 battles, and leading the majority of them. On the other hand, Roxy’s dedication to recruiting and mentoring troops, and expanding all regional forces was highlighted. Indeed, Roxy and Ugly showed resilience in this war. CSY mentions that very few wars conclude after a capital invasion, and many through peace treaties and war term violations. We saw such incidents in the two armies’ last war, the Christmas Crusade, as well as other recent wars such as the Secret Service–Winged Hussars war, and the War of Second Helpings, all of which had their victors defined by a treaty.
The conflict that earned Ugly and Roxy their award began on July 28. Originally dubbed Operation: Caesar in EGCP’s declaration, it became known as the ‘Centenary Solstice War’ by the end. Their leaders sought to break the tradition of their previous wars against ACP ending without an official victor. We saw the war become divided into two fronts, with EGCP initially dominating in EU and US, while ACP dominated in AUSIA. Despite the back-and-forth trading of servers, the Guardians eked a lead in the war score at the start.
The tide began to turn in the latter half of August, with ACP gaining a second wind while EGCP seemed to suffer from burnout. This resulted in the score tipping in ACP’s favour, and they began claiming more servers than EGCP could claim back. They ended the conflict by invading Zero Grau, acquiring a size of 38, thus emerging victorious after a month of combat.
Biographies
Ugly joined the army community after enlisting in the Aliens in February 2020. Before joining ACP, he led several other armies, including the Tree Cult, the Dark Champions, the Secret Service, and the Fire Warriors. Under his leadership, FW won the Challenger’s Cup II and the New Year Bonanza. He joined forces with ACP in June 2023. On February 2, 2024, Coolguy passed the torch to Ugly as the 51st Commander-in-Chief. As a leader, Ugly has engaged in several conflicts before the latest war. This includes battling alongside the Sapphire Concordat Alliance against SS, and the Forlosning War against the Water Vikings.
Roxy joined in November 2019, initially recruited into the Help Force. After a nearly year-long tenure with the Helpers, she decided to join ACP in October 2020. She was promoted to Moderator, and later into the army’s High Command, but soon retired in January 2022. She would return two years later, in January 2024. And, it was not long until she rejoined the High Command for a second time. She became the 52nd Commander-in-Chief to lead with Ugly in June. In a previous interview, Roxy made her goals to win Legends Cup XIV and dominate in CPA clear. Though a Legends Cup win was not to be, with ACP losing to Templars and HF, ACP certainly dominates the map now, owning 22 servers.
Roxy and Ugly join nine previous recipients of the Silver Medal Award, the second-most prestigious award the Army offers below the Medal of Honor. A committee decides who can receive this Award, with Roxy and Ugly earning theirs through a unanimous decision. They now join the group of Legends CSY, Kenneth1000, Max, and Mchappy, who are also the holders of this medal.
Club Penguin Armies spoke with Roxy and Ugly to unveil their feelings on the accomplishment, and what the future holds for ACP in their tenure.
What does this award mean to you?
Roxy: Silver medal is a great achievement and I would’ve imagine that I’d be one of the people earning the medal. It’s only been around 2 months since I’ve been inducted as a leader and it’s really crazy to think that I already earned a medal. The war was really challenging due to the duration of the war being long and some of the battles being very close. After going through all of that, earning the Silver Medal was one thing I didn’t expect. This award really means a lot to me, and it’s an honor to be awarded with one.
Ugly: This award means a lot to me and a lot of people, as only 9 people earned this medal through the history of ACP. I am very honored to be bestowed this medal as it displays the dedication I’ve put into this army for the past 1 year ever since I joined. The recent war was definitely something not a lot of people anticipated but our sheer determination and hard work ultimately got us the victory and I’m very proud of that. I’m very proud of our leadership’s dynamic duo that led us to the win so I’m very happy that Roxy earned the medal too because she has been a massive reason we won as well and deserves it 100%.
How does it feel to have your name and accomplishments listed among the other award-winners?
Roxy: It feels truly rewarding that my accomplishments were noticed and I feel validated. This really motivated me to strive for excellence.
Ugly: I feel very honored, it’s something truly unbelievable.
Did you imagine you would achieve the award the same year you became Commander?
Roxy: I never thought I would’ve achieved this award, nor did I have time to think about that. As soon as I was inducted as a leader, the Legends Cup and the war followed by it kept me occupied, leaving no room for any thoughts. In the end, I’m really grateful that my efforts were noticed.
Ugly: Not at all, it was something completely unexpected as quite frankly I didn’t imagine myself going 100 battles in a war when I first got inducted. It shows that each leader through history will have their own historical achievement known for and that all leaders have their special moments and accomplishments that differentiates them from the others.
What will you do now to lead your army to greater heights?
Roxy: My plans for now just to take a break and reset, while focusing on rebuilding and expanding our army, while focusing on few key areas.
Ugly: ACP’s Anniversary is coming up and we’re hoping to have a ton of thrilling events and news leading up to the big moment, super excited for it!
The Commanders feel motivated. It seems inevitable for ACP to slow down shortly. This medal serves as a reminder for the future of what the two leaders have achieved. What do you think the ACP will do next? Will they retain their strong position on the map?
