What’s Up With Operation: Caesar?

The Summer Clover-Guardian Conflict still has no end in sight, as the war enters its fourth consecutive week. Both armies met each other on the battlefield more than 50 times already. Today, we seek to understand what is going on with Operation: Caesar.

Clovers and Guardians are no strangers to one another. On July 28, the Elite Guardians officially declared war against the Army of Club Penguin. Dubbed “Operation: Caesar”, this move of theirs was considered surprising – but not unexpected. And surprising it was, given both armies were seemingly working towards peaceful diplomatic relations after EGCP’s Army Representative Dalloway approached the Clover commander Ugly to sign a Non-Aggression Pact.

Elite Guardians’ leader SavageCobra stated in the declaration post that their casus belli was simply a way to settle the differences between both armies in a new conflict. The Guardians also mentioned several past instances of clashes and wars between them as a reason for war. And, thus, the first round of battles took place on the following day, July 29. The battle for Snow Fort ended in an ACP victory, while the battle for Aurora resulted in an EGCP victory. This pattern of stalemates and tied results would be common throughout the conflict.

The First Battle of Operation: Caesar

So far, the war has had an astounding amount of 69 battles over three weeks and one day. Being a map war, this number reveals that this war has been a close one, indeed a conflict to remember. Both armies have been showcasing their strength and unparalleled stamina.

The first two weeks of the war saw very close battles taking place, with the war score mostly ending up in a technical tie. Some days, however, the Elite Guardians were seen taking the lead, but not for a long time. It is noteworthy that the time zone factor played – and still plays – a huge factor in this war. The Clovers have the advantage in AUSIA, while the Guardians have the advantage in the US. Meanwhile, the EU battles were a major point of contention. However, this did not stop both armies from winning battles in their respective disadvantageous divisions.

Battle for Matterhorn – August 7

Nonetheless, last week saw the tides of the war turn in favor of the Clovers – perhaps a reflex of the Guardians losing steam. This was showcased by their growing amount of no-shows and decreasing sizes. This was only natural, of course. After more than 60 battles, one side would have to give in and lose stamina. So far, the official war score is 39-1-30 in favor of the Army of Club Penguin. Both armies still have scheduled invasions against each other.

Even though the Guardians are facing a serious risk of losing all their land and, subsequently, the war, their leadership is still adamant about not giving up. As far as we are aware, no negotiations between the two armies took place, pointing out that there is still no end in sight.

Server Map Update – August 15

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Ugly and Fitsuki, Elite Guardians’ Main Leader, to understand their impressions and thoughts on the conflict.

Fitsuki, EGCP Leader:  This war is lasting a long time, longer than many expected, and that is a very good thing. CPA needs more wars like this. There aren’t wars like this anymore. Unfortunately, most wars these days boil down to quick surrenders. It seems that no one carries the spirit of fighting until the end, having honor until the moment of their death.
Furthermore, its long duration allows for several comebacks. It started with ACP winning, until EGCP turned the score around, but there was another comeback that saw ACP regain victory. Real wars are like that. That’s what brings all the excitement. You never know how the war is going to end until it’s over, not even at the last second. That’s why it’s important to stay focused and not celebrate too soon. After all, who laughs last, laughs best.

Ugly, ACP Commander-in-Chief: This war for ACP so far has been going decent, granted and there’s no denying that both armies are feeling the heat of the longevity of the war but I feel ACP has gained more than lost in this war if anything, regardless if we win or lose at this point. We were able to get #1 of the week 3 times in a row so far, our sizes have increased a lot, our battle performance has improved significantly, our new HCOM have improved their leading during battles, and our community has gotten a lot more closer during the war making fan edits, propaganda, memes, and tons of troops showed huge dedication in attending this war for most battles. This war has honestly been the perfect thing that could’ve happened for our preparations for the next tournament. We’ve managed to turn around the war pretty nicely in our favor, and now its just a matter of expanding our nation rather than fighting for our lives. I don’t think EGCP has anything to gain from being beat down to death but the only thing stopping them from making their troops suffer more is their leaders’ ego and pride but whatever the plan further just boosts ACP further than down. I don’t think the war will end in stalemate but just one army taking over the nation of the other in one way or another and it sure won’t be ACP losing this one. We wish good luck to EGCP this week.

It is clear that no army is willing to surrender. Even after 70 battles in total, Clovers and Guardians are ready to destroy their opponents. Is this war really going to end anytime soon? Who do you think will be the winning force in Operation: Caesar?
