As the month of August comes to be, a legend leaves the community at last. Let us explore the legacy of Mchappy and the future of our community.
Mchappy’s odyssey began in early 2008, ending now after 16 long years of hard work and dedication. The Club Penguin community at the time called out to him, becoming a topic of great interest. Before long, he learned of the Club Penguin army community through his friends, joining the Fort Ghost Recon for a short while. During the winter of the year, he joined the army, which he later became a legend, the Army of Club Penguin.
As the new year started, his interest grew exponentially. Climbing the ranks over two years, he became a person of importance within his army. He worked hard, creating posts, and taking part in the Holiday Smackdown, Club Penguin Army Tournament, and many more. With his hard work, he became the temporary Leader just in time for one of the most legendary tournaments in Club Penguin army history, The Decade’s End Club Penguin Army Tournament. He and his army came out victorious.
Following the victory of the Decade’s End Penguin Army Tournament, Mchappy became a full-fledged leader of ACP. Under his leadership, the troop sizes grew together with activity. The army prospered. However, their prosperity came under fire as tensions with the Night Warriors escalated. Destruction of the Clovers in mind; the Night Warriors allied with Dark Warriors and Nachos raided ACP and declared war on its allies, the Doritos. Seeing this, Mchappy declared war on them, a war now known as World War V.
The enemy alliance proved to be a formidable foe for ACP, as the Clovers were put on the defensive. Key servers fell one after one, Snow Fort, Snow Globe, and even Breeze. It became obvious that if nothing was done, they would definitely lose. The action that changed the tides was the Battle of Fog. Battle in which the Clovers, under Mchappy’s leadership, manned twice the amount of troops and decimated the opposing forces in one sweep so shocking that the Dark Warriors switched sides. What followed was the Clover gaining momentum during a week full of invasions, eventually forcing Night Warriors to surrender on the 26th of February 2011.
A month after the victory, Mchappy retired from ACP. Later that year, he earned the title of Army Legend for his hard work. This was not the end, as he still widely participated in the army community. He became the vice president of Club Penguin Army Central administration and later on the CEO of Small/Medium Army Press. Together with this, he rejoined ACP twice, before eventually retiring completely, because of his age and other interests.
As the armies boomed once more during 2019, Mchappy saw the revival of his former army (ACP) and decided to help bring it back to its glory once lost. Seeing the state of leagues during this time, he decided to offer his service to the league, becoming a judge and Editor in Club Penguin Army HQ. He also invented the now well-known Aces of AUSIA, the predecessor to the modern AUSIA Arena. As time went by, a movement began with the intention of uniting the army community under a single league. Because of this movement, a new league was born, the Club Penguin Armies.
Following the rise of Club Penguin Armies, Mchappy wrote many posts and had been highly active in the community at large. His work has paid off as he was awarded Best Reporter and soon offered a position in the administration. He accepted this offer, and together with Disha, they far surpassed all expectations.
Records were broken as they managed to shatter the record of posts per month. Together with this under his and Disha’s guidance, several new tournaments came to be; Around the World Cup, Double Deck the Halls, Trick or Treat Trials, and a new format of Legends Cup, all saw great success within the community. His and Disha’s work carved a legacy of now one of the most stable leagues in Club Penguin army community history. He was part of the administration for 67 weeks, before retiring on the 4th of August 2024.
We approached Mchappy to obtain an exclusive statement about his retirement.
Being an administrator for the unified community website was an honor, and it was one that I did not take lightly. Despite being an administrator before, I knew that this would be different, and a lot more important. Coming into the administration, I truly felt like it was do or die.
Looking back, it feels like it all went by so fast. One of the best things about my term was creating a close friendship with Wynn. Although there were many stressful challenges, I’m very proud of what we accomplished. If you ask any of the higher ups, they’ll tell you that I was constantly worried about providing a top quality experience. Even if there were no strong competitors, it was important to me that the league worked hard to gain the trust of the community.
I feel like we will look back on 2023 and 2024 as the years the community found itself again. Perhaps it wasn’t another golden age, but it was certainly a renaissance of community-wide activity.
I know that there are many people who are not my biggest fans, but I think there’s no denying the impact my administration will have on the next generation. There is no doubt in my mind that Coolguy and Mare will carry on the torch spectacularly. It’s so exciting to see a league finally have a healthy rank system within its own team. Essentially, the wish I have for Club Penguin Armies is the same I had for Army of Club Penguin in 2019: March on. Continue to put hard work into the unified system we’ve established. And when the going gets tough (because it will), work as a community to fix the issue; do not panic and look elsewhere. The other administrators and I leave you our legacy, so please do not squander it.
His retirement came to no one’s surprise as the quote ‘‘Not here for a long time but a good time.’’ was visible to all. With his retirement, the torch has been passed to Mare and Coolguy. What is the future of the Club Penguin Armies administration? Will Mchappy stay active within the community? Will we see a new age of the army community?
