Background of Warriors vs. Troops rivalry

To begin with, Ice Warriors was created by Iceyfeet1234, a CP Army Legend, on June 1, 2007. By 2013, the army established itself as one of the strongest armies with the defeat of the Army of Club Penguin in World War IV in 2008 as part of the Great Alliance. On the other hand, the Blue Miners Army‘s shutdown resulted in the Light Troops‘ creation in January 2011 by Ioioluk. Next, LT quickly caught up to armies like ACP and Nachos.  Throughout the next couple of years, the army proved its strength as Waterkid101‘s leadership defeated ACP in several wars.

Moving on, the successes of both armies guaranteed a confrontation between the two in the future as tensions brewed. At the same time, IW declared war on LT on May 11, 2013. In their post, the justification was that LT was not an allied army and had similar sizes to the Warriors. In the previous year’s Christmas Chaos, the Warriors easily defeated LT with 75 penguins versus LT’s max of 30. Another factor was IW was not far ahead of LT in 2013’s Top Tens which suggested a war without a clear result. Simultaneously, IW saw decreased sizes with maxes below 20. Given these factors, LT responded with a refusal to attend any battle events against the Warriors on Club Penguin.

BATTLE RESULTS

Following the post, the first battle was an invasion of Matterhorn on May 13, 2013, and featured a no-show from LT. Based on this result, the non-appearance from LT made the possibility of a one-sided war possible. Despite the no-show, the Warriors hit a max of 13 penguins. Next, the Warriors maxed 10 in a successful invasion of LT’s Ice Cream. Following these events, a morning invasion yielded a max of 8-11 penguins with another no-show from the Troops. Moving on, the Warriors successfully invaded Abominable, Fog, and Chinook with 20 penguins at each event.

Light Troops’ Domain Issues

While LT refused to acknowledge the war, their absences were further explained by domain issues they suffered around the same time. On May 17, 2013, the domain name expired and required LT to renew the domain. Losing access to the site prevented LT from attending any future battles if they wanted to finally participate in the war. The lack of chat activity for LT also was a disadvantage against the Warriors. Supra, a retired LT leader, was eventually able to repair the site for future use by the army.

End of the War: Ice Warriors Victory

In response to the no-shows, IW ended the war and declared themselves as the winners. The rest of the year resulted in IW’s 5th place finish ahead of LT in 9th place on the Top Ten Armies of 2013.

In the following years, both armies had varying levels of success with more conflicts between the two. For instance, IW declared on LT in 2014 after their victory in the Legends Cup tournament. During the war, there were several no-shows by LT. Another problem was many battle results were disputed with no clear victor. Several raids also took place such as LT’s invasion of IW’s capital, Sub Zero, on October 28, 2014. The raid was successful as LT maxed 40 penguins versus a less organized IW.

CONCLUSION

LT surpassed IW in the later years of Club Penguin thanks partly to their partnerships with Club Penguin Private Servers and recruiting tactics. The army’s controversial nature had no factor in their success as they became one of the largest armies in the community. Despite numerous shutdowns, their permanent shutdown did not take place until right before CP’s shutdown. Their last battle against IW was a successful defeat of the Warriors on February 14, 2017, after only recently coming back.

In 2016, IW shut down in January after a massive drop in sizes before coming back several months later. Under the leadership of Andrew24, the army re-established itself as one of the most successful armies in the community. In a turbulent time for armies, the army finished first in the last-ever Top Ten on March 26, 2017.

Throughout the years, IW and LT’s competition kept armies interesting alongside many other notable rivalries. Both armies had times of weakness and strength as they competed to outdo the other. In the end, neither army was the clear winner in the rivalry. What do YOU think? Who do YOU think was the winner in the conflict?
