In a battle which saw them fool the community, the Rebel Penguin Federation and the Water Vikings took to CPA Battleground to face off against each other.
The Rebel Penguin Federation and Water Vikings have been allies for more than three years now. Their alliance was first announced in August 2021 by Aaronstone in the Water Vikings’ Discord. This came after they worked to mend their relationship following the Black Seas War in 2020. Last year, on March 26th 2023, they decided to expand their relationship after years of steady relations. This decision saw them become brother allies. Throughout the course of their alliance, they have continued to support each other on various occasions. One of the recent occasions was when they teamed up in World War IX, creating the Blue Sunset Alliance alongside Elite Guardians of Club Penguin.
On 30th March 2024, Gabegirl, RPF Leader, released a post abolishing their alliance, and declaring war on the Water Vikings. However, unbeknownst to many within the community, this was an April Fools joke. Despite it being an April Fools joke, the battle continued to take place on April 1st. It took place across two rooms before both armies revealed the light-hearted nature of the battle. But who came out on top?
Room 1 – Rebel Penguin Federation
The first room saw both armies rush in head first but only one could come out on top. The Vikings entered the room first but were slow to get into formation. RPF had a size advantage of 9 (32-23) going into the first room and were seen to be quicker than the Vikings. RPF made an L whilst Vikings experimented with a Z form. It was clear that the chatbar was being dominated by the Federation, however, they were the first to move later on. Upon moving and before creating an upside-down V, they revealed the gaps in their opponent’s formation. The Vikings then moved to form a plus. This form change benefitted the Vikings as the Rebels were seen to be bunching. Yet, they soon made a comeback towards the end of the room. They showed themselves as the quicker and more tactical army throughout the battle, therefore, the judges awarded the room to the Rebels.
Room 2 – TIE
Once again, the Water Vikings entered the room first, improving on their pace from the last room. There was soon a fight for the upside-down T formation as both armies tried to enter the form. At this point, the sizes were 32-28 with RPF maintaining the advantage but WV gathering more since the first room. As the armies switched forms, it was noted that RPF’s newly formed X was messy, giving WV the advantage. Some RPF troops struggled to fix their form but the opposite was said about WV’s form which went uncritiqued. At one point or another, both armies had dominated the room with WV capitalising on RPF’s X form and RPF taking advantage of WV’s underlined V formation choice. Therefore, the judges decided that this room was a tie.
Despite battling throughout the first two rooms, at the end of the second room, both armies chanted ‘APRIL FOOLS’ before quickly logging off. Because of this, room three did not go ahead as planned. Therefore, the battle was deemed invalid by the judges. However, on paper, the Rebels won the battle with a score of 1-0-1 [W-L-T].
The community saw a glimpse of what a war between the Rebels and Vikings would look like. Yet, it is unlikely that we will see the brother allies go to war against each other any time soon. Their alliance is seemingly stronger than ever before. With that being said, what do you think? Do you think that the Rebels deserved to win? If room three took place, who do you think would have won?
April fools then everyone just leaves
