What’s Up Club Penguin Armies? #2

Welcome to What’s Up CPA, the post where we take a look at some of the recent conversations within Community Chat. With war being declared recently, there have been many conversations taking place.

What’s up CPA? Over the past few days, the community has seen a war take place with high tensions in the air. But, is this all that the community has been talking about? Let’s find out what has been talked about in CPA recently.

Aurora shared a picture of a cat that had lost the will to live, curling up in a ball and raising its middle paw to society. If I were sitting in that chair, I also would have lost the will to live so no-one can blame the cat. The real question is, who buys an arm chair in that colour? We can only imagine what else the cat had endured and if they were force to play dress up.

Last year, the world witnessed the release of the live action Mario movie. The movie starred the likes of Chris Pratt and many more familiar faces. IMBD rated the movie a 7/10 but, let us be real, it was the movie we all wanted to see. The movie was well produced and provided us with something we never thought we needed. Last month, it was revealed that another Mario movie would be made, following the first. Yet, until then we are left to wonder when the series will branch out and bring us other game-inspired movies like Luigi’s Mansion.

For many, Luigi’s Mansion provided players with an opportunity to experience the fantastical world world as the less-talked about plumber, Luigi. Following its initial release, there have been 2 other games of Luigi’s mansion as well as games about other Mario characters. Only time will tell whether or not we will see these in a live action movie or series. But let’s pray and hope in the meantime.

In recent times, Club Penguin Journey has been releasing teasers about what is going to appear in-game next. After releasing a code (100KPENGUINS), which you can redeem in game, they released information about their ‘April Fools Party’. This took place yesterday. However, after that, they published a dark picture with what looked to be Sensei in a dark spotlight. The caption for the picture was “OO LALA<3”. Today, on March 2nd, it was announced that this entity was called Senslay. It is unclear if the real Sensei has been abducted but Ugly has set the wheels in motion for a boycott of the game. Who will win in this heated battle?

Yesterday, a “war” battle was held between the Water Vikings and the Rebel Penguin Federation. Last week, the Rebels declared on the Vikings. However, unbeknownst to some, this was actually an April Fools joke in disguise. As the two armies prepared for their fake war battle, many rushed to sign up to become a judge for the battle. Many believed that the joke was in fact real, while others had a fair idea it was not. The above conversation came after Spotty mentioned that judges could have been informed about the light-hearted nature of the battle. Her argument was that, if they knew it was an April Fools joke, it would have allowed them to convince Judges in Training or less confident Judges to sign up without feeling pressurised over the result.

Dino, on the other hand, explained that there was a battle and that people judged two rooms. Neither of these points are wrong, they are just different perceptions. But would revealing it to the judges have ruined the joke or would it have helped judges in the training process?

Mchappy and Aaronstone bring up a valid discussion here. Over the past few years, battles have often led to claims of bias or bad judging. One thing that has often been overlooked is the fact that people often see different things on the game. Mchappy mentioned the example of a player’s positioning in game. Leaders are normally the first people to call out someone who’s not in form. However, for the person they are calling out, they may be in form on their screen. So what does that mean? Can people truly judge a battle fairly? Can our screens deceive us to the extent we see a different outcome to a battle than others?

Alongside all of this, CPA’s server was transformed into Arctic Warriors by Mchappy for April Fools day. The Penguins of Madagascar also won a battle against the People’s Imperial Confederation in a shocking turn of events which caused ripples to be seen. The score was evened by PIC today as they performed a dominant display against POM. And that is what’s up CPA! There’s been a lot of chatter in the community and these conversations will not be the last that are held. But what will be the next topic of conversation? Will YOU be featured? What’s up CPA?
