Time Capsule: Community Committee

Welcome to the Time Capsule, the column where we ask members of the community questions and get delightful responses. This week, we interview our community committee members to gather their predictions for the year ahead. At the end of the year, we will take a step back and see who predicted their future correctly.

Previous editions of Time Capsule include an interview with the editing team and an interview with the Head Judges. This week, we sit down with our very own Community Committee to gather their fondest memories of the role and predictions for the remainder of 2023.

The role of a Committee member is one of imagination, people skills, brainstorming, and much more. They play a vital role in the Club Penguin Armies server. They are the ones who organize community events, daily questions, grams, and polls and act as the glue that brings the community together. Behind every organisation-wide event is a hard-working Committee member.

The Club Penguin Armies Reporting Team reached out to AubzIzzy and ActionSpark of the Community Committee to reflect on their experiences and predictions for the remainder of the year.

Can you introduce yourself to the readers?

Iz: Hello I am Izzy! Also known as TheEmoLatina and I’ve been apart of the CPA community for almost 6 years ;’)

Aubz: I am Aubz, I have been in armies for about 3 and a half years now and part of the community committee for a couple of months, but have been involved in CPA as moderator for about 7-8 months!

ActionSpark: Hi I’m ActionSpark, many in the community know me as Action. I’ve been around for a little over 3 years now, and been in countless armies & organisations. I’m currently in the TTC, CC, and also work as an Associate editor and moderator for Club Penguin Armies.

What made you decide to join the Community Committee?

Iz: Well, I decided to join the Community Committee shortly after my return to CPA. In my previous years of being in the CPA community, I was mainly involved in armies rather than the community itself. So, I was thinking to myself about ways to reintegrate myself back into the community and decided to apply for the team. I strongly believe that, in order for the community to thrive, we sometimes need a little break and put our differences aside, and just enjoy fun activities together as a community.

Aubz: I like engaging with community members and making new friends so I thought this would be a good way to have some fun with the games and polls but also help with community engagement, I also love DrQ so working with her was a plus!

ActionSpark: I like hosting games and events, and well I wanted to help out Club Penguin Armies in anyway I could at the time, so I thought I’d be a good fit and decided to join.

What Community Event do you think will get the most participation/appreciation this year?

Iz: In my opinion (totally not biased because I love this event), I feel like the Summer Olympics will gain the most traction. During the Summer Olympics, participants form teams and compete against each other in a series of challenges and games. These events can range from tactical battles and sled racing to trivia quizzes and obstacle courses. Each event tests different aspects of teamwork, strategy, and individual skill. For this event I feel like it’s a great way for people from different parts of the community can engage and interact with eachother, aswell as providing a platform/event that promotes and highly encourages unity, sportsmanship, and community engagement.

Aubz: For me personally I’m really excited for the summer olympics, we have put a lot of work into it and it should be fun for the entire community!! The grams for holidays always seem to be a hit as well so I can see those getting a lot of engagement as well.

ActionSpark: Well I can’t really say yet as there’s still many more big events to come, and there’s a good few months left before the year’s over. But possibly the CPA end of year gala if we decide to host one this year around

Are there any community members you’d like to see join the Committee?

Iz: I’d love to see Aurora in the community committee team tbh. They are one of the most active members in the CPA general chat and I feel like she would bring so much to the table. I have personally known Aurora shortly after my return, so my friendship with her is still flourishing but she should definitely join. Aurora if you’re reading this, just apply xoxo wink wink nudge nudge

Aubz: Tbh I think that someone who I would enjoy working with on the community committee is Calgo or Mads. They are both really engaging and fun people and have done a lot of fun things for ACP so I think working with them on a community event would be a lot of fun, however I don’t know if either of them would join Calgo is running ACP and Mads is a wonderful reporter!

ActionSpark: It’s hard to just pick one. I’d say all the big community events we host together, like some of the galas we’ve held before, or just the grams we do. We have a lot of fun behind the scenes, and poke fun at each other, and I’d say those are the highlights for me

Do you have a favourite moment of the Community Committee?

Iz: I’ve been apart of the Community Committee for a month (I think), so I haven’t had enough involvement yet, however one of my favourite memories as of now is the pride grams. Essentially, it is a space for the community to send messages to people about pride or anything in general and they are so hilarious to read, but I feel like throughout this year there’s going to be a lot of experiences and memories created, so there will definitely be a change of favourite memories :maniac:

Aubz: My favorite memory working on the community committee was probably the pride parade. It was really fun to come up with ideas for the fashion show and see everyone’s submissions, it was also awesome to see everyone come together to support a group and have fun while doing so 🫶🏻

ActionSpark: Oooh boy uh I honestly couldn’t say. I’ve been busy these past few months and haven’t been around the most, and the people I do know are already in community committee.

How do you think the Community will have performed by the end of the year?

Iz: Oooooh that’s such a good question! I feel like by the end of the year, we would’ve accomplished our goals that were set throughout the entire year. As the Community Committee, we aim to foster a positive and inclusive community environment within Club Penguin Armies. Personally though, I believe that we as a committee would be successful if by the end of the year, if we can look back at all of the memories created and see that there was a sense of unity and harmony Club Penguin Armies community. Our success would be measured not only by the number of events organized or the level of participation, but by the lasting impact we have on fostering a positive and inclusive environment.

Aubz: I think that a lot of people don’t realize that being apart of the larger community is one of the best parts about armies. Participating in your own army events is always super fun but participating in a community wide event allows you to meet and talk to new people who you don’t usually get the chance to engage with! I think with that being said that the community will perform awesome this year especially in the summer months when people are at the most active it’s the perfect time to get involved and meet some new people maybe even make some new friends 🙂

ActionSpark: Like many, I’d say the community has slowly been dying for some time now. However, that said we still have a decent chunk of people left. It’s hard to say exactly how the community will have performed, but I’m willing to say this would be a decently good year for the army community.

What personal goal will you have achieved by the end of the year?

Iz: My personal goal since my return has been reinserting myself back into the community and bring a positive light to it. I was retired for almost 3 years and ALOT has changed in the community for the better. My ultimate goal, is to engage with the CPA community by initiating conversations, participating in discussions, sharing ideas, offering insights and building relationships with fellow members, as this helps shape the direction and impact of the community itself.

Aubz: A personal goal of mine is to bring new ideas for engagement to the community committee and help better events that have been a long standing tradition! I hope to make every event we host as enjoyable as possible. I also hope to bring new and exciting polls that gets people talking 🙂

ActionSpark: Well I’m working on reviving an army with a few friends, so I suppose hopefully successfully revive said army and get a high placement in the top ten. Besides that, hopefully rank up to Managing editor, and maybe even Editor in Chief

Now that we know our committee members a little better, it’s safe to say that there’s a lot planned for the remainder of 2023. The upcoming Summer Olympics mentioned by Izzy and Aubz is particularly interesting. Will it be similar to the Olympics hosted in the past by armies like Ice Warriors and Rebel Penguin Federation? Only time will tell! How will the rest of the year play out for the Community Committee and the rest of the army community?
