KLONDIKE, CP Army Headquarters- On August 12th, longtime leader of the Special Weapons and Tactics, Mare, announced her departure from the leadership team, not too long after Firestar08 left on August 6th.
Mare joined the Club Penguin army community early on in April of 2020. Her army career began with Special Weapons and Tactics, but she also split time between there and the Golds Army. She ended up leaving the Golds, however, to spend more time with her friends in SWAT. On April 26th, she joined Aubz, Frankie, and Izzy in creating the One Direction Army. ODA became a prominent Small/Medium army in the Club Penguin Army League, as well as in Club Penguin Army Hub after the merger between CPAL and Club Penguin Army Media.
The success of the One Direction Army prompted Mare to leave SWAT only a couple weeks before they closed down. Mare would return to two SWAT revivals, the second of which is the generation that is still alive today. In the later days of July 2020, Mare left ODA to help SWAT in their tumultuous war against the Water Vikings, commonly known as the Eagre Foray. She earned a promotion to leader during the war, and helped command her army for the rest of the aforementioned war. Since then, Mare has led SWAT through multiple wars, most notably the Flash Nemesis War and Operation Templaria: resulting in a loss and a win, respectively.
With over a year spent with the Special Weapons and Tactics, Mare officially stepped down from her leadership role on August 12th, 2021. Her full retirement post can be read HERE. The post does not go into the specifics of why she made this decision. However, Mare is currently a leader of the Dua Inn Lipa Fighters. She, alongside a plethora of co-leaders, are preparing their army for a first round match-up against the People’s Imperial Confederation in Challengers Cup 2. DILF made their CPAHQ Top Ten debut last week, placing 13th.
CPAHQ reached out to Mare to talk about her departure and what she has in store for the army community.
What made you decide to step down from the SWAT leadership?
I decided to step down because I wanted to focus on my time with my friends and family before I go off to school.
So how invested are you in Dua Inn Lipa Fighters? Is it a big commitment or ‘just for fun’?
I got you, moonlight, you’re my starlight
I need you all night, come on, dance with me
I’m levitating
You, moonlight, you’re my starlight (you’re the moonlight)
I need you all night, come on, dance with me
I’m levitating [It’s just for fun]
Have you given any thought to if you will ever return to SWAT?
I have not yet, but I will be around always helping SWAT and the leaders whenever they need me.
Overall, what will you miss the most about leading SWAT?
I will miss getting spam calls in the Leader GC every morning to wake up for AUSIA events. As well as all the troops and awesome staff/hcom in there.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?

It is safe to say that Mare has earned this retirement from armies. With summer winding down, she is one of many who will step away from their full time commitments in armies as school gets back in session. Although Mare will still be around with the Dua Inn Lipa Fighters, it will be less taxing than her former position in SWAT. CPAHQ wishes Mare the best in her future!
What do you think? Will Mare return to SWAT’s leadership one day? How will DILF fair with her at the helm in Challengers Cup 2? Let us know in the comments below!
