On January 21, 2026, a little over two weeks after the announcement of a hiatus, Lana and Kazoo both stepped down from EGCP leadership. What is next for both of them?

Lana and Kazoo assumed leadership of the Elite Guardians of Club Penguin as a duo shortly after returning from a hiatus in June 2025. Lana began her journey with EGCP in 2018 and has remained a loyal troop. She did explore other parts of the community, such as the Wild Ninjas, along with helping create the Scarlet Republic. However, she was always a dedicated member of the army, hence the promotion to leader in this new generation. Kazoo has also been an extremely important member of EGCP, mentioned in their revival announcement as one of the most important in the second generation. One of their first acts together as leaders of EGCP includes the formation of the Army Retribution Alliance. They allied with well-established small-medium armies. Unfortunately, they did not follow this announcement with a win in the Legends Cup XV Jackpot Conference. They unfortunately had a no-show against the Templars.
Attempted Improvements
This was followed by multiple Top Ten placements under tenth place in August. They attempted to help the army in September with the return of Lass, an influential former leader of EGCP. Their leadership continued with mediocre performance around this time, despite the army’s best efforts to grow quickly. The army’s performance took a slight hit again with the breakup of the EGCP and Shadow Legionnaires alliance over controversy. This led to another former leader, Iosephus, returning to leadership to help the team out after the rebellion of some staff during the controversy. Unfortunately, this didn’t lead to much of an improvement, with yet another hiatus announced on January 9, 2026. In her interview, Lana attributed this hiatus to all leaders attending college and having jobs, which made running the army difficult. This finally culminated in the retirements of both Lana and Kazoo on January 21, 2026, for unspecified reasons.

Was there a specific reason for your retirement?
Lana: Yes, there was. But this has already been discussed with the consulate, and out of respect for them and the founders, I prefer not to comment.
Kazoo: Besides the reasons for the announcement, which was posted, yes, there were some. But I prefer not to comment much on it, as it was something recent.
What do you think about your accomplishments in EGCP?
Lana: I’m sure I could have performed better, obviously. But I believe I performed well. My closest friends (EGCP and allies) know how much I wanted it to succeed and how sad I was to make this decision.
Kazoo: I could have done better ngl. I tried, but I had a lot of problems in my personal life and even some setbacks that EGCP went through. I wish I could have done more. I think I did well, but not as well as I wanted to, you know?
What do you see for yourself next in armies, or do you plan on coming back to EGCP soon?
Lana: As I said in the announcement, I intend to stay only in CPAJ for now, but my doors will always be open to the elite guardians. They are my first home in CPA and I hope to see them grow again someday.
Kazoo: For now, I want to enjoy the community without an army and focus more on the Community Committee, which is my favorite area of CPA. I’m thinking about joining an army or creating one, who knows, but not for now.
Anything else to add?
Lana: No… I just hope not to see speculation about the reason for my retirement. I don’t like rumors. if you want to know something, it’s better to ask me than to speculate. my dms are always open! That’s all.
Kazoo: I am very grateful for the opportunity and the trust placed in me and Lana from the consulate. Also, I would like to ask that you avoid speculation and ask me directly❤️.
Lana and Kazoo made it clear that both of them wished to stay in the army longer, and simply could not due to personal reasons. However, they do seem inclined to stay out of any new armies for the time being, hoping to simply be a part of the community. We wish the best for them and their future in CP Armies.
