Welcome to the forty-fourth edition of the Higher Command Life Stories column. This week, we talked with Thalia, who is currently serving as a second-in-command for Dark Warriors.

Thalia began her journey in the Club Penguin Army Central community in 2011, when she joined the United Countries of Club Penguin. Her stay there was a brief one, and in 2012, she moved on to the Pirates of Club Penguin, where she held leadership roles alongside MrMax and William112, serving under Waterkid100. After departing the Pirates due to internal turmoil, she joined the Underground Mafia Army in 2013. Mentored by Coolster114, Thalia rapidly climbed the ranks, reaching the position of 2IC by the summer. During this same period, she also became a member of the Ice Warriors under the leadership of Albert417.

She first departed the community in August 2013. After leaving UMA, she joined the Water Vikings and participated in the Blue Summer tournament. Her final event had been Albert417’s retirement, after which she stepped away from armies and quit Xat.

Thalia returned in August 2025, rejoining through the Ice Warriors server. She was welcomed back by Sebzy, who played a key role in helping her reintegrate into the modern army community. Reuniting with SubZero soon after, she chose to join the Dark Warriors as fifth-in-command and quickly proved her capability, rising to the ranks of HCOM within just a few months.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Thalia for an exclusive interview regarding her rise as HCOM.

What was your favourite moment as DW HCOM or Troop?

It has to be the random off-handed comments that eventually go into the memories section of the server. The DW Leaders and Troops are just downright hilarious. There’s never a dull moment in DW because there’s always _someone_ whether myself, another HCOM/Leader or troop, doing something silly in chat that makes others laugh

Looking back on your army journey, are there any regrets /wishes that you have?

Yeah. I left in 2013 due to an unfortunate event that occurred to me in CPA. Whilst my life moved on, it meant I didn’t get closure from certain people. So I wish I’d come back in 2022 instead, been able to see IW as an army once more, reconciled with old friends and got to witness more key moments in CPA- such as the ACP Triumvirate. So I have some unfinished business that may take some time to get closure on, or even achieve partial closure. So my wish in the meantime is to make DW a major army, considering both of my home armies (IW & UMA) are not around anymore, and my wish would be to get to lead DW with a couple of my old friends from 2012, and maybe a couple of new friends that I’ve met having returned.

Has anyone or anything in particular inspired you to keep going in the army for so long?

This is an interesting one. If anyone, it would have to be Coolguy, who’s inspired me due to his long tenure in armies. Being in CPA for that long is remarkable. But on top of that, personally, my biggest reason for staying in DW is because I’m dedicated to making it a safe space for the troops- away from trouble, away from drama, and away from any risk of harm. We all unfortunately know that’s still a risk here, and my goal is to keep it minimised to being a fun penguin game as it was supposed to be. Being from the og era, specifically around Pirates, I’ve seen horrors that even controversies today just do not and will never compare to. So my biggest motivator for staying in DW is because I want to keep the troops safe, and keep the environment clean from toxicity and enjoyable. At the end of the day, it’s a virtual penguin game, and that’s all it should be.

What advice would you give anyone who is attempting to achieve HCOM in their own army?

Being HCOM- it’s a mixture of solo work and _also_ working as a part of a team. There are going to be frustrations, disagreements, personal opinions and all of that. Don’t worry about what others are doing. Set yourself your own achievable goals. Put in the effort, make it visible, and don’t compare yourself to others. Also, if you want to be HCOM, don’t be afraid to ask questions. The open-mindedness to learn and improve is something that HCOM and Leaders notice greatly, and it shows dedication to the army. On top of that, have fun! Never burn yourself out with CPA, and ask for help when you need it.

Anything else you want to add?

I know it sounds cringe, but I love all my friends in CPA, both veterans like me and newgens I’ve met. You’re all awesome.

Even though Thalia is relatively new to the modern era of Club Penguin, she has definitely made a strong impact through her dedication and involvement over the years. Her presence, ever since the original era, has quickly made her a valuable part of the army. What would you hope to see Thalia achieve in the future with the Dark Warriors? Who would you like to see in the next edition of HCOM Life Stories?
