A Bleeding Legacy
Special Weapons and Tactics had been created by Ganger90 in 2009 and has stood as one of the oldest armies in the community. The army rose back up in 2020 under leaders: Sophy Bee, xFastx, and Iz. Multiple complaints about the army merging with the Doritos of Club Penguin sparked this revival. In March 2025, leadership changed, and WilliamW2010 rose to the Supreme Commander position. They later faced the Romans and also clashed with the Thunder Troops some time later, losing in both. Furthermore, the army faced a major exodus in December 2024, followed by defacement in February 2025.

New Beginnings and Shocking Endings
In December, the army inducted two new leaders, xDemon and AB, in hopes of rebuilding a positive outlook in the community. Later, xDemon announced that he would be stepping down after spending weeks dedicating himself to keeping SWAT alive and strengthening their numbers as a Small/Medium army, building a prominent legacy, and carrying SWAT’s reputation forward.

However, this did not last long. Leaders attributed this decline to a noticeable lack of staff participation, weak recruiting efforts, and an overall drop in internal activity and morale. As a result, events became inconsistent, leadership and engagement among members faded, making it difficult for the army to function. Leaders initially allied to strengthen both sides, but it instead created confusion about the command structure and overall goals. Without a clear plan or active leadership to stabilise the situation, SWAT struggled to maintain its identity and momentum within the community.

Due to recent pressures and challenges, FWAPO stepped down on January 9, 2025, as everyone, as he claimed, wants SWAT to shut down to presumably avoid further challenges and regain control before opening once more into the community.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to WilliamW2010 from SWAT for an exclusive interview.
What inspired you to reach for the leadership role?
Really, honestly, I just have autism and my special interest is SWAT. Think I can trace this back to the fact that the first time I joined CPA was during MM. So I for a good while thought I had to stick to SWAT forever. And now I am supreme commander.
What are your plans as a team for SWAT after the lockdown?
Ensure people are actually doing their job, become stricter on insubordination (ideally you have LCOM and SiTs for if a staff member becomes sub-optimal), and ensure people actually attend.
With SWAT now having new leadership, after xDemons’ and FWAPOs’ stepping down to advisor, we have yet to see what they are capable of. What do you think SWAT might do to fix these ongoing pressures? What can we expect from the army in the future?
