UGly’s Beginnings
Ugly started his army career in 2020, after being recruited into Aliens, however, his career took off after joining Tree Cult, where he was quickly promoted to Leader. Following this, Ugly spent time as the Leader of the Fire Warriors. During this time, Ugly received many awards across 2021 and 2022, such as the Champion and Warrior medals in 2021. Leading these smaller armies gave Ugly valuable experience as a leader, which followed him through his career.
Ugly’s big claim to fame came in 2023, when he joined the Army of Club Penguin. He quickly rose the ranks, and by January 2024 was officially instated as Commander-in-Chief for the Clovers, the catalyst that created a legacy, with Ugly’s most notable achievement from this time being winning Best Major Army Leader of 2024.

Call of the void
Ugly’s journey as Leader in Void Troops began on June 16 in the midst of the defacement campaign spearheaded by VT co-founder Kyle104/Justin and ex-staff Venom. During this time, Ugly served as a Leader-in-Training for VT, and his previous stints leading other armies proved vital in dealing with the situation VT found themselves in. After the drama concluded, Ugly saw a promotion to Leader upon request.

Shortly after Ugly’s promotion, VT found themselves involved in multiple wars, putting Ugly’s war knowledge to the test. First, the war against the Shadow Legionaries, a very brief war that put VT back onto the Club Penguin Armies map. Following this victory, VT declared war on The Bastille Vanguard purely to further their conquest of regaining land. After just three battles, with a record of 3-0, VT succeeded in their goal to gain more land for themselves.
On August 2, VT severed their alliance with Templars, signifying the start of The Divine Reckoning War. Initially, this war started as a planned war between the two armies, treating it as real to the public. However, that changed after allegations that Templars were already plotting to betray VT and the overall disrespect VT faced from Templars. This war ended with a 15-1 record in VT’s favor, maintaining their position as a formidable army.
The final war during Ugly’s time as Leader came on September 3, after a call out from old VT founder Kyle104, now known as Justin, claiming that VT were “too scared” to start an off-map war with Dark Warriors. This statement backfired, as DW did not show up to any of the battles that took place between the two armies, adding yet another war win to VT’s collection.

accolades and Retirement

In his retirement post, Ugly spoke on why he stepped down from his leadership position, noting upcoming university work not allowing him to put as much time into the army as he used to. While he may have retired from Leader, Ugly plans to continue supporting VT as he joins the Advisor team.
Wanting to know more, Club Penguin Armies reached out to Ugly regarding his retirement.
How was your time serving as a leader in Void Troops compared to other armies you have led?
Was definitely very interesting. I never joined an army like Void Troops cuz its one of the only major running armies not systematically built in a complicated way, but rather just a couple people in the community getting together wanting to make a neat army and have fun. I liked the culture and chaotic nature of the army and it just felt like me, so I really liked my time in Void Troops and how things panned out.
What were some personal highlights from the short timeframe you led?
The Templars war was def very interesting, the whole saga between VT/TCP/Justin was a bumpy fun ride and the drama was great and unique I liked the constant back and forth and how things turned upside down so quickly.
Is there anything that you wish you had done differently as leader?
Banned more staff.
What pushed you to stay as an Advisor for Void Troops?
I don’t wanna just completely leave VT just like that, I wanna still help shape the course of the army on a straight, legitimate, and great path ahead.
Do you see yourself stepping back into the leader position for Void Troops?
Probably not, I have full trust the current and next gen of leaders will make VT far greater than it ever had.
While short lived, Ugly’s tenure as a Leader for Void Troops no doubt made a lasting impact in VT. Leading VT through numerous successful wars, this army is showing no signs of slowing down their growth. How will Ugly’s departure from Leader affect Void Troops as an army? Will the new leadership be able to continue the reign of dominance Void Troops has had?
