CPA Spotlight: Water Vikings Staff Found Multilogging

Club Penguin Armies conducted a multilogging research on the Water Vikings and found out that a staff member had multilogged on several occasions.

What happened

After being asked by a Water Vikings member, the administration conducted a multilog research on some specific accounts. The results of the search were fascinating, showing that one IP address was linked to five accounts. It involved a, now former, WV staff member, Pr1sm, who apparently used five different accounts to attend events. They were logged at the same times, spanning from April to July. Pr1sm mainly multilogged during May and June, while most of the events he attended, he had at least two accounts on. The events were mostly training events, with some practice battles possibly being included, too. There was no multilogging in the Legends Cup XV tournament. Club Penguin Armies did heavy searches on the armies throughout the tournament to ensure there was no cheating.

WV’s Leadership Response

The leadership was keen to help with the research, trying to provide as much intel as possible while talking with the offender, to clarify the situation. The alt accounts were tied to Discord accounts, with most of them not looking like alts, having some social media accounts linked. Due to this, the investigation took much time and would have probably taken even more without some of the useful data the WV leadership gave us.

Unveiling the case

All of the Discord users involved were welcomed in WV and registered in CPAB by Pr1sm. Pr1sm tried to argue that one of the accounts was his sibling’s and the other ones were his friends’. His story had multiple gaps, though, and failed to explain why the accounts shared the same IP. From the administration’s searches through the CPA: Battleground bot, it was found that the five accounts had only logged from one IP. Pr1sm claimed he used a VPN, while his friends didn’t, which doesn’t align with the bot results, as there would be different IPs shown. It is also noted that the involved Discord accounts, including Pr1sm, were banned from WV after the investigation ended.

Recent Alt Account Usage

Below are all the days when Pr1sm used multiple accounts for events.

Action taken

A few months ago, there was a post written by the administration about Authority, Accountability, and the Line We Draw.

Keeping that in mind, while taking into consideration that the army leadership wasn’t involved, nor knew the situation beforehand, CPA has decided to take the following actions:

  1. The Water Vikings will receive a *0.6 size multiplier in this week’s Top Ten.
  2. There will be Top Ten deductions in retrospect from the previous Top Tens that included WV events where Pr1sm multilogged. For each Pr1sm account logged in each event, per week, WV will receive a -1 deduction. Meaning that if during one week he multilogged three accounts in the first event, four in the second, and 5 in the third, WV will be deducted 12 points.

These actions are taken, given the amount of time that this has been going on, as well as the number of accounts used to multilog.

As always, Club Penguin Armies does not condone multilogging and will punish it severely where found.
