Overview
As the Legends Cup starts building up, the Aliens of Club Penguin and the Rebel Penguin Federation participated in an exciting practice battle on July 19, 2025! While this battle between allies is important for both armies, this three-room battle was important for them to train before the tournament, giving both armies practice in formations, tactics, and speed.
Room 1 – REBEL PENGUIN FEDERATION
In the start of the battle, RPF positioned themselves well by first deploying a bomb, then quickly adopting a tight U formation. Aliens then followed closely, attempting to form a triangle, as we saw some disorganization in both troops’ opening positions. RPF had good numbers on their side, with 40 troops to the Aliens’ 28, existing in the chaotic and contested area between the armies and the chat bar. Then RPF did manage to take solid control of the chatbar despite the two being visible. RPF waterfalled and the Aliens defended with a whirlpool, showing both armies had defensive awareness. Shortly after, RPF moved into an underlined plus formation whilst Aliens made an upwards arrow formation. The judges noted that the Aliens vertical was poor due to banding and running directly to the middle.
The Aliens then attempted another waterfall which RPF defended well. Following that, the Aliens adopted a BL formation, while RPF deployed an A after a swift bomb. With this, RPF took good hold on the center of the room with Aliens holding on to the chat bar. Judges ruled that RPF were the winners of this room thanks to their better form execution and size advantage.

Room 2 – ALIENS OF CLUB PENGUIN
Room 2 opened with RPF entering first, both sides boldly filling the room with their armies. RPF made a triangle in the middle of the room while the Aliens assumed a U-shape. The Judges immediately recognized RPF had a better complete formations, and the Aliens looked smaller by comparison. Nevertheless, the Aliens quickly turned the tide. The Aliens successfully performed a “rake,” which RPF failed to defend, making a circle with a vertical while RPF’s X formation looked a bit sloppy. Aliens were highly outnumbered by RPF (41-28), however they began dominating due to their better formations and executed tactics whilst also covering most of the room. The aliens continued their strong momentum with a clockwise whirlpool, moving into an underlined plus, while RPF moved into an anchor. In conclusion, the Aliens won Room 2 after dominating with a great performance and had the formation advantage unlike the previous room

Room 3 – TIE
RPF entered Room 3 first, Aliens then followed up. Aliens took a triangle formation, consistently shifting formations of the triangle over time, while RPF took a circle formation. RPF maintained a size advantage of 38-28. Aliens made a whirlpool into a plus next, and RPF went to a 4 vertical lines formation that earned them applause from the Judges. Aliens then raked and went to a circle with a line formation, but the left side was noted as extremely gappy. RPF then bombed but Aliens made an incredible defensive display. RPF made a Z but initially used a diagonal that looked odd, though they quickly fixed the formation. Aliens then bombed, quickly transitioning to an X formation. Because both armies had such similar presentations appropriately balancing their tactics to the formations, Room 3 was called a tie.

OT ROOM – TIE
In the OT Room, RPF entered first again. The Judges were unable to figure out the Aliens’ form; eventually deciding it’s an arrow. RPF formed a nice circle and aliens used a strategic bombing very early to go to their form. Aliens changed to a much better triangle formation. Sizes were 38-30 in RPF’s favor. The Rebels went to an upwards arrow, which was not the best against Aliens’ formation. Aliens waterfalled however were slow making RPF defend easily. Then the Aliens went to a circle that the Judges noted was their best so far which highlighted the flaws of RPF’s formation. Aliens began to move faster, improving significantly, and again formed a whirlpool. RPF were able to defend but fell short, forcing them to quickly bomb. Aliens then formed a Q formation, presumably, while RPF formed an underlined V formation. Both forms were very hard to tell as the room was almost over. Due to both armies having forms that are hard to tell and similar strengths of tactics, the room was a tie.

Both armies practiced hard in this pre-tournament battle in advance of the Legends Cup. This battle ended in a draw, which shows the almost perfect balance between the two armies. Which army do you think will make the biggest splash in the Legends Cup?
