The Void Troops are a relatively new army which has taken the community by storm. Yet, we bid farewell to one of its creators, Kyle104, as he stepped down from the army’s Leadership. As quickly as we bid farewell, we must wave as we welcome Kyle back into the community.
On April 27, the Void Troops made their way into the community, hosting their first-ever event. Before its opening, Logical had discussed a Penguins of Madagascar revival. However, both Kyle104 and Logical wanted to assemble something new, something different. Thus, Void Troops was formed. During its opening event, the army managed to achieve a max of 20, setting the army off on the right foot. From here, while no expectations or goals were set in place, they certainly were about to make an impact.
Two weeks after opening, Void Troops declared war on Special Weapons And Tactics, with the Void Troops’ Leadership aiming to take down an army they knew all too well. For Void Troops, this war was about respect, something which SWAT lacked. In their declaration post, they stated that they were disrespected and badmouthed. Therefore, they felt like action had to be taken. It was soon after this that Void Troops gained their first war victory as SWAT dropped all of its land.
This was not the only significant thing to happen for them either as they managed to firmly secure their place in the Top Ten upon its creation. In their first week, Void Troops snatched 7th place and maintained this the following week before creeping up to 6th. Since then, they have dropped back to 7, but they continue to maintain their place.
After two weeks, it was clear that Kyle and Logical had made an impact within the community, but they did not stop there. On May 12, they went on the offensive against Penguins of Agartha, aiming to establish their dominance. After four battles and four wins for Void Troops, POA signed a treaty and ended what was a one-sided affair. This war gave the army even more momentum and allowed them to strive for bigger and better battles.
While many thought that the Troops would have been finished warring armies, no-one could have predicted what happened next. Despite being new to the community, they aimed to “silence the mob“. Ultimately, they declared war on the Doritos of Club Penguin and claimed the Doritos were a toxic army. Following this, the two armies went back and forth in battle both on CPA Battleground and on the internet, exchanging words, posts and even a diss track.
Like many would have expected from a war between the two, this war has been one-sided. However, what is a shock to many is that the Void Troops have been coming out on top in every battle. There is a catch to this point, though. The Doritos have failed to attend most battles and are most likely looking to avoid combat. Yet, the battle they showed up for, they lost. Not only did they lose to VT in their defence of Sled, they got clean-sweeped. This meant that Void Troops won all three battle rooms.
Whilst the war is not yet over, the winner of the war is already clear as Void Troops have, once again, outgunned their opponents. With that being said, Kyle and Logical’s attempt to create a new army has proven to be an overwhelming success. During its creation, neither of them could have predicted what would happen. Yet, now, as they look back, they can only be proud of what they have accomplished and look forward to what is to come.
On May 6, Kyle announced his departure from the army amid their war against DCP. Ultimately, after thirteen years of service within the community, he decided that his time was up. Yet, during the short time he has had in Void Troops, he has been able to step out of the shadows and show everyone who he truly is. Following his departure, he has been able to watch as Void Troops continues to dominate the scene. Following a long career within the community, Kyle can proudly say he has done everything he can; he has been there and done that.
In the past, Kyle has served in armies such as Special Weapons And Tactics, Ice Warriors, Templars and even Dark Warriors. In each of these armies, Kyle has had a different experience. These experiences have led him to where he is today. He has witnessed the highs and lows in each army. But nothing was quite like Void Troops for Kyle. On June 9, Kyle returned to the Void Troops’ Leadership and is continuing to help the Troops take out the Doritos. One question still remains though; why did Kyle retire and then return?
Club Penguin Armies approached Kyle for an interview.
What led to your retirement and swift return to Void Troops’ Leadership?
Honestly, my retirement was something I had been thinking about for a while. Being a Void Troops leader and being part of this community for 13/20 years of my life is extremely time consuming and exhausting, and after everything that occurred with the Doritos war and the constant months of wars, I needed to step back for a bit to breathe, think, and focus on life outside of armies.
But being on the sidelines did not sit well. Watching the troops still fighting, the community still pushing forward and it just reminded me of why I started this in the first place. I knew I still had more to give.
It wasn’t pride or numbers. It was seeing Void Troops through, having the people who believed in me and in this army have someone alongside them. So, the “swift return” wasn’t so much planned, but a feeling I couldn’t shake. When you care this much about something you’ve built with your team sometimes you can’t walk away that easily.
Are you proud of what you have accomplished with Void Troops? Additionally, is there any particular moment you are most proud of?
Yeah I’m proud. Logical and I started Void Troops in April without realizing that things would be on fire like they were. We started with the name and idea, then within weeks, we were beating armies that had been around for years. Seeing us cap at 20+ and pushing armies such as SWAT to quit in under 30 minutes, that’s something you don’t just forget. But if I had to pick one moment I’m most proud of, it would be that first declaration of war against the Doritos. It wasn’t all about war. It was about proving that even the so-called ‘unknowns’ can change the game and we did. To see our team stand up, to see people such as Logical, Trey, Bora, and many more enter their prime that made it all worth it. So yes, I’m proud. And I think the best part is we’re just getting started lol
In your retirement speech, you spoke about being put in the shadows or mixed up with other Kyles. How does it feel to finally be acknowledged for your work in the community? Would you care to share some of that work with us?
I think up until late 2014 i was always seen as a “clone” or “fan” of Kyle103 due to my name, even though he’s the one that first recruited me into armies and mentored me for awhile. It feels great honestly to be acknowledged for my work in armies and just be acknowledged as someone overall.
My main work i’m proud of has to be leading Templars from the years 2019-2021, Leading Teutons in 2016, and leading the Dark Warriors in 2015 for a short amount of time before closure. I think SWAT, DW, RPF, IW & Nachos will always be my home armies.
Out of all your moments in the army community, what are some of your favourites?
What do you think/hope is next for the Void Troops?
With Kyle back on the scene, Void Troops continues charging forward, aiming to win their war and soar to dominance. While it has been an unexpected ride for the Void Troops, they’re aiming to achieve much more. As for Kyle, while his journey was over, he has now come to learn it is only just beginning. Out of the shadows and into the light, Kyle is showing the community who he truly is. Surely, he will forge a legacy that cannot be forgotten. Do you think Void Troops will be a great success? Will Kyle achieve his goals? What is next for the Void Troops?
