With great pleasure and excitement, Club Penguin Armies presents a brand new iteration of Around the World Cup. In this week-long tournament, all armies involved will be tested, as they face challenges across all time zones.

Originally created by former Chief Executive Producer Mchappy, Around the World Cup is a weeklong tournament that culminates in a Grand Finals in the following weekend. Last year, we saw the Elite Guardians and the People’s Imperial Confederation emerging victorious in the Major and S/M groups, respectively, after heated Grand Finals.

The tournament starts in the Round Robin format. Therefore, one loss does not equal elimination. The Major and Small/Medium armies that secure the most points in their respective groups will be labeled as champions, as they move on to the Grand Finals. There will be both a Major army winner and a S/M army winner. 

During the group stage phase, the armies will receive points based on the battle results: three points for a win, two points for an overtime win, one point for an overtime tie/loss, and zero points for a loss. Groups will be predetermined by Top Ten Armies of April ranking, with a randomized distribution to balance the ratio of major:small/medium armies per group.

AROUND THE WORLD CUP II

Just like last year’s format, Around the World Cup II will feature the group stage taking place on the week of May 25. During the week, armies will have battles across all three time zones. The Grand Finals will then take place tentatively on June 7, if a tiebreaker round is not needed. The following armies are welcome to participate, with the sign-ups concluding on Friday, May 9, at 8 PM EST.

NOTE: A Qualifier round may be needed depending on the number of armies participating. This round is expected to take place on May 17 and 18.

Further information and rules regarding the tournament will be announced alongside the group stage brackets next weekend on Sunday, May 11.
