Leadership Journey and Contributions
Holo2, and Subzero are long-time veterans of the Club Penguin army community with deep roots in the Special Weapons and Tactics. Holo2, previously served as SWAT’s 47th leader years ago, while Subzero led alongside him. Their return to leadership in January 2025 came through an unprecedented shake-up where the advisors introduced a new Supreme Commander rank to bring these two veterans into SWAT’s command structure.
This decision placed Holo2 and Subzero at the top of the hierarchy, and immediately sparked internal debate. The sudden change coincided with the resignations of existing leaders Kyle104 and Maguro, who felt sidelined by the move. However, Holo2 and Subzero pressed forward, quickly assuming control and reassuring that their experience would guide SWAT to stability.
During their leadership term, the duo focused on rebuilding SWAT’s strength and activity. They emphasized recruitment, training, and reforms to restore the army’s presence on the battlefield. Additionally, Holo2 and Subzero led SWAT through a major conflict in February against the People’s Imperial Confederation. This war tested SWAT’s resolve, especially as it came on the heels of disruptive leadership changes and a brief defacement of SWAT’s Discord server.
Despite the challenges, the pair kept the army running. While the conflict ultimately ended in a PIC victory, Holo2 and Subzero ensured SWAT showed signs of life by the war’s conclusion. Moreover, they helped organize what Subzero described as “a great new foundation” for the army’s future, bringing in fresh recruits, new staff, and a renewed morale to carry SWAT forward after the war.
Stepping Down and Transition
After nearly three months at the helm, the two decided to step away from their positions. Their retirement was not unexpected; both Holo2 and Subzero had indicated from the beginning that this would be a temporary mission. On April 24 Subzero announces his retirement, and just an hour later Holo2 announced his retirement.
Subzero shared that he is stepping down to prioritize real-life commitments, expressing pride in SWAT’s growth and emphasizing that he had always intended for this leadership stint to be short-term. Meanwhile, Holo2 explained that he returned to leadership primarily to stabilize SWAT following the major setbacks earlier in the year. Feeling that the army had been placed back on stable ground, he saw it fit to step down, officially ending his leadership journey in the army community.
Their departure signals the end of a revival chapter for SWAT, with WilliamW2010 and the High Command now tasked with continuing the army’s growth.
To gain deeper insight into their departure, Club Penguin Armies obtained an exclusive interview with Holo2 and Subzero.
What factors led to your decision to step down from SWAT leadership at this time?
Holo2: Inevitably there were a number of factors that played a rather significant role in my decision to step down, firstly and foremost was that my real life obligations had taken priority, I was holding onto and maintaining a position that rightfully belonged to someone else. Additionally you begin to grow rather tired of trying to pour your heart and soul into something that received relentless pushback, a breaking point must be reached inevitably.
Subzero: Due to me being busier irl, it was only right I stepped down.
How do you reflect on your recent tenure as SWAT leader, and do you feel you achieved the goals you set when you returned?
Holo2: Reflecting on the advances both Subzero and Myself were able to achieve within SWAT are rather admirable if I am to be bias for just a moment, when we joined SWAT, its reputation, its productivity and its moral were at an all time low, it faced numerous challenges, defacement, and an everlasting hatred among the community, however through all those challenges, we reached 6th, with 20+ as our sizes, we completely rebuilt the community aspect of SWAT, attempting to bring rules and principles to their core, so if anything my goal to keep SWAT alive and to try and make an everlasting effect on SWAT was achieved, even if everything we wanted was not.
Subzero: I feel privileged, though I didn’t manage to do what I’d originally hoped for, we got halfway there, so I’m happy with that.
What advice would you like to share with SWAT?
Holo2: My advice and message for SWAT Troops and Staff is continue to be fiercely loyal and dedicated, as you always were, fight for what’s important, what you believe is correct and right, and above all else, put each-other first, as a family.
Subzero: To always keep moving, movement is medicine, stay consistent and worry about the rest after& above all just have fun, this isn’t a chore it’s a hobby, always enjoy yourselves.
Do you intend to stay involved in the Club Penguin army community even after stepping down, or will this be a complete farewell?
Holo2: This isn’t goodbye for me quite yet, however I believe a break is certainly needed, I’m old, I’m tired, and it’s time to relax for a moment before I decide my future.
Subzero: I do for the meantime, I’ll be advising from here on out as far as I know.
As Holo2 and Subzero exit SWAT leadership, the army now transitions into a new phase with fresh faces at the helm. Their time in SWAT has been defined by impressive comebacks, leadership during adversity, and lasting contributions. Will the groundwork laid by Holo2 and Subzero propel SWAT to new heights? Will SWAT’s next generation be able to fill the shoes of these veterans?
