In Overworked And Underpaid, we aim to interview designers, get to know more of them, and have them share their journey and design advice. Today we talked with one of CPA’s Graphic Designers, Cassie.
Designed by Cassie
Cassie‘s journey to becoming a Graphic Designer was not a desire that started from childhood. However, she started making hand-drawn art, and, eventually, the passion for designing matured throughout the years. Last year, she bought herself a Tablet and Stylus to focus on Digital art. This is where her graphic design journey began and soon led her to join the Club Penguin Armies staff team! She first learned the simple ways of digital art by drawing Penguins. After some time, her boyfriend suggested that she should join the CPA graphics team to improve her skills and become a skilled artist.

When Cassie first joined Fire Warriors in 2020, she made some cool fanarts for her army and kept improving from there. After some time, she joined the People’s Imperial Confederation, where she became third-in-command and created tons of cool and amazing designs for them. Overall, wherever she went she proved to everyone she was one of the best Graphic Designer out there.

A Quick Chat with CaSSIE
We sat down with Cassie to talk more about her journey as a Graphic Designer.
Could you tell us more about how you learned to use virtual designing softwares?
I looked up recommendations online. I just wanted a free and easy to use app. So i use ibisPaint which is pretty basic but gets the job done. I have a rlly short attention span so I didn’t use any tutorials, just started testing all the different buttons and tools as I went along.
What about your job as CPA’s Graphics Designer? What do you like about it and in which aspect is it challenging?
The job is pretty simple. Wait for a thumbnail request, accept and complete it. I wouldn’t say any part of it is challenging, maybe just finding inspiration. My favourite part of the job is when unique thumbnail requests come in, where I can let my imagination go free and make smth unique.
Lastly, what advice would you give to someone who is aspiring to become a designer like you?
There’s no need to jump into complex/expensive apps and equipment to begin with, if that overwhelms you. You can do/learn a lot with simple programs.
We are learning more and more about the heroes who design the beautiful Artwork that inspires us to create something truly captivating! I hope you know what drawing means to Cassie and that you have been inspired. Thank you, Cassie, for your dedication to CPA! We all wish you the best in the future! Are you going to try Designing? Who would you like to apply to the Team? What’s your favorite Design by Cassie?
