On December 7 and 8, four battles occurred, featuring some of the largest armies duking it out for their chance to advance to the Christmas Chaos XIV Semi-Finals. As we reflect on these battles, we reach out to community members to get their thoughts.
The Christmas Chaos tournament is a long-standing tradition within Club Penguin Armies every winter. It gives new army leaders a chance to show off their talents against community giants and allows new armies to prove their worth. If an army wishes to collect the trophy, it must overcome several challenges, and these battles sometimes shock the community.
Christmas Chaos XIV Quarter-Finals Recap
The first battle was between the Army of Club Penguin and the People’s Imperial Confederation. The result was as most people predicted, with a win for ACP. However, nobody predicted that PIC would refuse to show up. The next battle was between the Doritos of Club Penguin and the Help Force. The recently revived Doritos were the favorites in this matchup, and they did not disappoint. Although with a formidable max of 30, HF was no match for DCP’s 79 max, resulting in a 3-0 win for the Doritos.
The remaining two battles occurred on Sunday, December 8. The first of which was between Rebel Penguin Federation and The Bastille Vanguard. Fresh into the army scene, TBV has proven itself as a strong opponent. However, they were blown away by the RPF, who had a max of 40. Alongside better formations and tactics, RPF took a 3-0 win. The last battle of the Quarter-Finals was between Templars and Aliens. Although most came into this with the belief that it would be a victory for the TCP, they were surely mistaken. This was easily the most interesting battle of the Quarter-Finals and displayed the strength of the Aliens. With a score of 2-1-0 (W-T-L) for Aliens, they progress onto the Semi-Finals to face off against the RPF.
Following the recent Army of Club Penguin, Doritos, Rebel Penguin Federation, and Aliens victories, Club Penguin Armies reached out to several community members to ask their opinions on the battles.
Mare, Chief Executive Producer: Honestly, I was pretty surprised by a lot that occurred. The main battle that I was surprised with were the Aliens and Templars. This battle was very close and I was shocked with both armies and how similar in size they were. When it’s that close to size, ultimately, it comes down to their quality of performance. Also, thank you to the CPAJ judges!!!!!!
Edu14463, Editor-in-Chief: I believe the first three battles turned out to be exactly how the majority expected: ACP, DCP, and RPF dominating their opponents with a compelling size advantage. However, the last battle did surprise me a little, as I did not expect Aliens to bring higher sizes than Templars and showcase a brilliant performance. This was undoubtedly the best match so far.
Ugly, Army of Club Penguin: ACP vs PIC: I think the battle went as I expected, not much to say about it but we did get some good training off of it and got the cobwebs out so hopefully that comes into play next round.
DCP vs HF: Nothing unusual in the results, DCP were the favorites to win this battle and pretty clearly the favorites to win the whole tournament. DCP did pull a massive size which HF couldn’t dodge, there were moments where HF showed some resilience but DCP’s size won them the battle.
RPF vs TBV: I expected TBV to max way more than what they did in this battle, same can be said to RPF but they might be leaving it for the next round respectfully. Both armies did great and obviously the clear projected winner was RPF so no surprise.
Aliens vs TCP: This battle took me by surprise in all honesty. Seeing TCP’s sizes in the first round I expected them to breeze through this but I don’t know exactly what happened on their side. Upsets always happen in tournaments thats what makes them most exciting so Aliens did work hard for this win and it’s 100% deserved. TCP’s size drop really did a toll on them this battle while Aliens kept it consistent. Performance wise I expected TCP to have the advantage on that due to Alien’s reliance on CPJ events the previous weeks, however turned out they were significantly more active this battle and displayed their size pretty efficiently. Props to Aliens on this win and hopefully their battle with RPF is even more interesting.
Zooy, Special Weapons and Tactics: To be honest, I’m quite impressed by the Aliens’ show of performance during this tournament! The aliens seem to have made huge improvements since BB, and look like they have a good shot at winning this. I think that was the most surprising battle of them. I also didn’t really expect a no-show for a quarterfinal battle, but I mean it’s not too out of pocket. All in all, every army has shown quite a strong force in their battles so GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! (The greatest suspense comes from if the trophy is a win!)
Aisha, Doritos of Club Penguin: ACP – PIC= both armies *ss
DCP – HF= HF did great but DCP owns
RPF – TBV = TBV is really new and if they had even more time it wouldve been very close for sure
Aliens – TCP = the most interesting quarterfinals battle from all of them, it was definitely very close but aliens did really well with utilising their size and did outperform tcp. it was definitely the biggest shock between all battles, they really proved themselves.Hampter, Water Vikings: ACP-PIC: wow who could’ve guessed
DCP-HF: wow who could’ve guessed but HF were cooking so if not for the corpses of veterans logging on HF definitely woulda won
RPF-TBV: wow who could’ve guessed
Aliens-TCP: tcp threw lmao
Heading into another weekend brimming with battles, it is clear Christmas Chaos XIV is one for the history books. Whilst many community members share the same sentiment about the results of the past battles, there is one clear underdog. The Aliens. Nobody knows yet what will come from the Semi-Finals or even the Grand Finals, so we will have to stick around and find out. But what do you think, will Christmas Chaos XIV shape up to have an exciting Grand Final, or will we be faced with disappointment?
