The Water Vikings are one of the longest-standing armies, falling in and out of major status several times. But now, they have once again reclaimed their major status.

Water Vikings HISTORY
Initially, the Water Vikings were founded in 2010, by Jed Pen and Zakster. This was a result of a merger of their two armies, the Masked Vikings and the Water Troops respectively. At the start of their journey, the army capably maxed sizes of 15-20. Since their initial creation, they have stuck around for every stage of Club Penguins’ existence, and have been a powerful figure throughout. They were revived originally in the Club Penguin Private Server era by Pjayo, Kingfunks4, and Buddy. In 2020, WV veterans including Pyajo, Buddy, Tymatt, and Adden came together to form the Golden Guardians. Following the closure of the Warlords of Kosmos and the Shadow Troops, Superhero123 and Thomas83514 joined the Guardian’s leadership. Although, short-lived, they had a war against the Pizza Federation, following which, they rebranded into the Vikings. Winning Christmas Chaos XIII, their first major trophy ever, was a large moment in the history of the WV. This leads us into the present-day iteration of the Vikings.

The Vikings had last held Major status since March 19, 2023. However, since June 30, 2024, the Vikings have been classified as Small/Medium. Following their month-long hiatus, they returned under the S/M status and have been slowly climbing the Top Ten ladder weekly. After returning on August 5, the Water Vikings held a week-long Olympics event to celebrate their return. However, it was not all sunshine and rainbows, with the removal of Mei from the WV leadership being a sore spot in this jolly time. With maxes up to and into the 30s, it is no surprise they have now regained their major status.

This new generation has seen great success under the expert leadership of Ryebread, Claire, and, most recently, Raven. They fought long and hard during Project Conquest: Blood Bowl but unfortunately had to bow out on October 16, following their loss to the Help Force. Furthermore, the Vikings also saw success in the Beach Brawl IV tournament. Although they have avoided war since their revival, the Vikings have shown themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They have proven that hard work and dedication pay off. Some of the key factors that have helped with their promotion include their new High Command and Staff members. Alongside their work within CPA Battleground, the WV has also been hosting frequent Discord events, and improving their diplomatic relations.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Ryebread, leader of the Water Vikings, for an exclusive interview.
How do you feel this reclassification will impact the Water Vikings?
These past few months we’ve been at a low point. We thought that taking a break from events would be good to help us rebuild after Cabin retired, but it didn’t turn out that way. When we returned from hiatus we did a themed week, which brought up hype, but then Mei got couped, and Claire and I were both very busy with our lives and it was very hard to keep up with the army. We saw members come and go, and we only managed to max 20 in battles or tourneys. To be honest with you, it felt like shit. Like I was the problem we were doing so badly. I’ve heard what people have said and it didn’t help my mental at all. But never once did I think about leaving WV.
For the past 3 weeks we have seen many experienced faces join the army, some new and some old, and all of us had the same goal: to get WV back to major. After countless hours of work, especially recruiting, registering, reorganizing the server, making schedules, spreadsheets, announcements, events, we finally did it, and I couldn’t be more happy. I’m sure many others think the same, and we will keep pushing to greater heights.
As our allies have told us, the Water Vikings being S/M just didn’t feel right. I agree with them. Participating in Beach Brawl, even though we won, it didn’t feel like a win. There was a missing piece to the Major puzzle. I’m glad we found it now.
Were you expecting this reclassification?
Yes. definitely, like I said before we recently have found a really good team that all had the same goal of making WV Major. Each person had their own ideas to implement to the server, and it payed off. Some were old faces as well, including Mabel, Jojo, and Dino, and they helped me personally with learning how the old WV was (since I only joined the army in April, things were much different) and I’m glad that I can now work with them and make WV great again.
What are your hopes for the newly major Water Vikings?
This is just the beginning. Getting major status was a tough feat, but Water Vikings will not be slowing down. We want to have more practice battles with major/ medium armies and continue to implement the new ideas we have in store for the Vikings.
In conclusion, we can see that things are looking good for the Water Vikings. But who knows what the future holds for them? Will they see great success in the upcoming Christmas Chaos, or will they sink back down to S/M? Will they continue on as a major army for years to come, and reclaim the top spot of the Top Ten? Only time can tell, but seeing what the Viking’s future holds will certainly be interesting.
