SCARS’ ARMY JOURNEY

Scars sparked off his army journey in early March 2020 with the Doritos of Club Penguin, joining as a member from autotypers in Club Penguin Online. He quickly ranked up to Lieutenant General but left by early June. Following the deface of the DCP Discord server in April, the Redemption Force appointed him as their sixth-in-command for a day. Later that year, in September, he joined the Romans, where 54x offered him a third-in-command position. However, he ended up retiring that same month.

In May 2021, Scars rejoined DCP with his former rank to participate in war but left again by June 26. Following a period of inactivity, he joined the Trojans on November 13 as a staff, where he rose up to Second-in-Command before retiring on December 18. While in Trojans, he led the first generation of the Scars of Club Penguin, reopening it on November 16 and closing it by November 29 after verification in the Small/Medium Army Network.

In July 2022, Scars joined the Magma Clan as an HCOM, recruited by Lukey, but left after two events in early August. Later, in November, he accepted a staff role with the Templars. However, his time there was short, as he was demoted after a week. In 2023, he returned to Magma Clan as a “2.5-in-command”, but was later caught multilogging in their war. As a result, the army banned him on April 5. In December, he rejoined TCP, where Dawn offered him a moderator rank. However his time there was short, as they demoted him after just one week.

Returning to the army community in May 2024, Scars applied for a staff position in the Water Vikings and retired by June 19 to help the Secret Service. On June 4, he created the Frostbite Federation, which merged into the Secret Service by June 18. He briefly held a staff position there before retiring on July 2. That same day, he joined the People’s Imperial Confederation as a staff member for the Legends Cup XIV tournament. Scars then retired soon after due to dual enlistment. In July 2024, Xing offered him the rank of Captain with TCP. There, he was active, recruiting heavily and attending every event. His efforts earned him Fourth-in-Command, but he retired on September 3. In August, he rebranded the Frostbite Federation to Scars of CP’s fifth generation.

Most recently, in November 2024, Sweater approached Scars to lead the People’s Imperial Confederation. He leads the army to this day as their fortieth Commander-in-Chief. PIC remains a stable Small/Medium powerhouse under his leadership. Additionally, Scars serves Club Penguin Armies as a Community Committee member and one of the league’s esteemed Reporters.

Club Penguin Armies took some time to sit with Scars and discuss his army journey alongside its notable memories.

Having experienced many extremes of what the army community has to offer, what would you say looking back on your journey?

I would say this community is definitely a little cut-throat at times, which I’m sure we all know. From arguments in main chat everyday to multilogging/troopstealing scandals in the most random armies like Church of Aurora, everyone is always competing. No matter where you go, there will always be some sort of beef or crazy thing happening. For example, while trying to recruit for PIC, I was met with a DCP troop who seemed very patriotic and even tried to recruit ME.

Would you go back to change any of your past mistakes/actions?

I definitely think I would. If I HAD to change something, I probably would’ve avoided getting banned from like every army and league many years ago. However, I’m happy with were I am now. Through many ups and downs, it’s been a fun adventure. From starting in a historical army like the DCP to even becoming 3ic in another historical gem with Romans, it has been a lot. I’ve joined lots of armies throughout my time, and contrary to popular belief I promise I’m not an army hopper!! I’ve had lots of fun in this community and to be honest I’m glad I’ve been able to do what I did. While I would like to change some things from the past, I wouldn’t be where I am today if I did. From having the most fun in my time here leading the almighty Scars of CP to now leading a real army in PIC, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

As an experienced leader within the meme army circle, how would you compare it to leading a traditional one?

It’s definitely similar. It seems to be a popular opinion that leading a meme army is easy and is nothing like a real one. But I still had to put in the work like the rest. Meme armies usually tend to not last long and I allowed SCP to survive nearly 3 months which I’m extremely proud of. I had to put in the work along with a great staff team in Tide, Villa, Sonic, etc. to keep up with everyone else and even turned SCP, imo, into a fearsome S/M competitor. I put in lots of my time and effort into the SCP and while there are some differences, I think it’s hardly different from leading an actual army.

Looking back to your army journey’s highs and lows, which memory stands out the most to you?

A memory that stands out to me among the many I’ve made in 4 years is definitely winning Operation Iron Resolve against Spartans. From being allies, to being declared on a day later, I was extremely worried at first. After coming off a one battle loss to other former allies in the SWAT war, I was discouraged. At first, I told 54 we should just ignore the war and continue along with our normal duties. However after retiring from Templars to commit to the war, I, along with my amazing staff team, would persevere and go on to win the war. I had lot’s of fun battling Spartans, though I wish the 5 minimum rule was introduced before I battled one troop through 3, 10 minute rooms. In the end though, I led the SCP through a war win, which I am so very proud of.

Do you have any final messages to share with the exciting prospects out there in the community?

Definitely to try your hardest in whatever you do. I quit early when I first joined DCP after not receiving promos and honestly I wish I could’ve done something in the army I’ve repped so hard all these years. I’ve also always thought that this community strives off hard work and I’d love to see it grow once again to the community I joined 4 years ago. While I know that will never happen again, I think it would be awesome to continue to grow this community and not recycle the same 10 people at every army opening event. Also I would like to say thank you to you, for interviewing me today, Diwix! VIVA SCARS!
