Despite opening less than one month ago, the Crystals have announced the closure of their army. In this post, we will look into the sudden closure of the army.
On October 12, the community saw a new army open its doors. This new army was the Crystals of Club Penguin, created by Grey Crystal. At the time of its opening, Grey was Second in Command in the Templars of Club Penguin. Therefore, many questioned what the nature of the army would be. To many people’s surprise, the army aligned with both Templars and Rebel Alliance Commando, which at the time seemed to be filled with former Templars members rebelling against the army. Despite this, the Crystals were considered as a “colony” by many.
During their opening event, they maxed a total of 10 penguins. Even though there were tensions in the wider community, the army focused its sights on expanding its presence within the community. On October 18, the army allied with another new army, the Phantom Republic of Club Penguin. Upon allying with them, Grey said he wanted to help the Republic to “return to their glory”. Undoubtedly, he has big goals for his army and its allies.
In their first week, the Crystals achieved 14th on the Top Ten Armies and climbed to 13th in the following week. Unfortunately, the Crystals were not able to climb higher than 13th in the Top Ten but their ambitions remained. During this time, their allies (Phantom Republic and RAC) went to war, leaving them in a difficult position between the two. However, they declared that they would stay neutral during this conflict. Ultimately, they did not want to help either of their allies attack the other.
On October 21 the Crystals allied with the Lawyers of Club Penguin, to further expand their relations within the community. The Lawyers were a relatively new army at the time but found themselves a new ally, nonetheless.
Despite their ambitions and goals, the Crystals soon saw their allies, Templars struggling and had a tough choice to make. Therefore, on November 6, the army officially called it a day and shut down. In an announcement made before its shutdown, the army mentioned that the Templars needed their assistance and Grey encouraged members to join their server. Yet, the possibility of a revival was left open. But when could we see the army return?
Club Penguin Armies approached Grey Crystal for an interview.
What led to the closure of the Crystals of Club Penguin?
Crystals is relying on allies for size, A TCP hcom asked to close it to rebuild TCP, I accepted and asked the other Crystal Leaders, Elsa said Yes, Valkyrie was hesitant but said yes. Crystals also is taking away unintentionally from TCP. We wont be shut down forever, we’ll return if TCP successfully rebuilds or fails too.
Upon opening Crystals, what did you want to achieve? Do you feel you have been somewhat successful or could be successful in the future?
I wanted to begin a new army to be more active and peaceful, silly even, I feel like we did decent, we maxed 6-10 most of the time, (mainly allies helping, PRCP, TCP, Lawyers, and RACP.) We could been more successful in the future when TCP is rebuilt, allowing a higher alliance troop size help while we start recruiting more troops.
How do you plan on helping the Templars to rebuild and become a major player within the community once again?
To be honest, by recruiting and registering, although I barely do anything, I want to help out for once (in TCP.) Currently I cant as im out deer hunting until november 7th-11th, 2024
Do you have anything you’d like to say to the former Crystals troops or the community?
I love ma Crystals Also: Come visit Crystals in the future when we re-open.
While the Crystals may have shut down, it is not goodbye forever. The army and its creator will be back once they have helped Templars regain their form. Grey seems optimistic about the future and about the Crystals’ time in CPA. As for Templars, only time will tell whether or not Grey will be able to help them get back to winning ways. What do you think? Were Crystals somewhat successful? Will the Templars regain their former glory?
