Welcome to the sixth chapter of The Tale of the Lost Heart. This story puts us into a world of covert operations, hidden allegiances, and high-stakes missions. Join us as we explore the complexities of duty, the weight of responsibility, and the thin line between order and chaos.
The Tale of the Lost Heart follows History, a second sergeant in the Special Forces of Club Penguin, who the legendary Counselor Scars unexpectedly summons to investigate the theft of a Red Stone, an artifact crucial to maintaining order in their society. As suspicion of a traitor within the ranks grows, History and Scars uncover a conspiracy that threatens to tip the balance of power in favor of the chaotic Blue Rebellion.
At that moment, the officer’s vision blurred, and he thought he would faint. The daughter of an enemy of the Force?! That couldn’t be true… since childhood, he had learned to hate every group defending the blue pieces, but now…
– But I’m no longer part of the Green Army! – she interrupted her boyfriend’s thoughts. – Now, I’m loyal to the Force, and I have nothing to do with my old home! I ran away, and one of the reasons I stayed here was you.
Diwix didn’t know what to think or say.
– I promise, Diwix. I want to recover the Red Pieces as much as you do. Do I deserve a bit of trust?
– Ah… – He hesitated. – I just can’t doubt you. Your face is so angelic; I can’t see any malice in your eyes…
– Then trust me. I’ll leave now; we can’t be seen together. – And with that, she ended their meeting that day.
At first, the future captain was puzzled and restless at the idea. Dating the daughter of one of the Forces’ arch-enemies! But over time, he got used to it.
“Yes, people can change… she’s definitely telling the truth,” he thought.
So, he kept meeting his beloved. This went on for a few months, during which we noticed a great improvement in Diwix’s performance, which earned him several promotions. Without a doubt, he was very skilled; however, he also tried not to raise suspicions. If his performance declined, the leaders would notice it — especially Scars, whom Diwix now felt less fond of and even some aversion toward. The soldiers were puzzled, unable to recognize the same recruit who once treated the founder like a father. “He’s just in his teenage years,” some would say.
In reality, his rebelliousness didn’t come from youth but from his meetings with Miss Lead. At every chance, she would make demeaning or suggestive remarks about everything related to us. If the officer had paid more attention to her words, he might have noticed the malice she hid in her hints and twisted tone, but love clouded his vision.
– He only wants to keep us apart because he’s unhappy and doesn’t want anyone else to be happy – the young woman would say, referring to the leader.
– You’re right! – the soldier agreed. – What he does to me is ridiculous!
– You know – she continued – this whole “Red Piece” thing is strange. They claim to defend true happiness and goodness, but the leader of those who guard it is hypocritical and cruel.
– Ah! It’s not the Red Piece’s fault! – Diwix sighed.
Then Miss Lead looked him in the eyes.
– With me, you’ll find joy. If you come with me, I’ll make you the happiest man on Earth.
– Ah…! – Diwix sighed again. – I’d do anything to be with you!
The girl then looked down and, in a dark tone, said:
– Really?
The boy found this sudden change odd.
– What’s wrong, Miss?
Then, with a faint smile, she turned her face to the side.
– I need to tell you something.
The future captain felt a bad omen. He was frightened and said nothing.
– The truth is… my name is Rye, and I am a soldier in the Green Army.
Diwix received this news as if he had just heard about the death of a loved one. He took a step back.
– But, but… – she resumed her previous gaze. – I want what’s best for you! That’s why I revealed this to you. And more, I told you my real name, which is proof that I lo-
– Liar! – the officer exploded. – How many times are you going to deceive me?
Rye stepped back.
– I don’t even know who you are anymore… how can I still believe your words?
– But, my love! – the Force’s enemy retorted. – I did all this for you! If I had told you everything earlier, you wouldn’t have listened to me. But you’re the one making a mistake, and I just wanted to free you!
– You’re the one making the mistake! – the officer retorted.
– No, Diwix – she continued. – You yourself have seen how hypocritical and false this story your “little group” tells is. Its members love to use nice or fancy words, like “justice,” “love,” and “peace,” but they’re really a nest of evil and injustice…
– N-no, it’s not true!
– Come on, give me a chance – Rye finally made her proposal. – If you follow me to the Green Army, I promise you’ll have complete happiness and pleasure, everything your little group can’t give.
– It’s over between us! – And with that, Diwix ran from the place.
Conveniently, that same month, Rye declared herself a member of the Green Army. She fled the Force and was declared a spy and public enemy. While some mourned the loss of such a beauty, others breathed a sigh of relief:
– It’s good that Scars forbid you from seeing her, isn’t it, Diwix?
– Yes… yes…
However, Diwix was astounded by other things. When he looked at our base and our members, he no longer saw truth or integrity but found intrigues like those of Aurora and Dillon and…
– If you need someone to hide something for you, just pay Mare! – a soldier said to him, laughing.
He saw all this with great confusion. The words of his ex-girlfriend echoed in his head: “Bunch of hypocrites! Nest of injustice!” and tormented him with many doubts. Despite all this, his training became even harsher.
All this discouraged the future captain, who now doubted the truth of the Red Pieces.
That’s when he made up his mind.
One night, he went to their usual meeting place and found his former girlfriend there.
– I knew you’d come back! I know you! – she said, but got no response. – Wow, why the gloomy face?
– Rye… that’s your name, right? I can’t help it. I love you and want to be with you, but that’s all. I don’t want to join the Green Army, nor do I want to stay in the Special Forces. I just want to know what I need to do to win your heart, and I’ll do it.
She gave a wide smile.
– If you want to steal my heart, go, steal a Red Piece and give it to me, and I’ll give you everything you want.
– Do you promise? – he asked.
– I swear! – his beloved confirmed.
From then on, Diwix continued his exercises in the Force until he became a captain, with the sole purpose of gaining access to the Pieces and finally stealing them. After a few months, he became their chief guardian and was assigned to conduct inspections on certain days.
Spring arrived in our year. On a dark, passion-filled night — a fateful adventure — he slipped away unnoticed. He quietly took Aurora’s ring. During the first inspection of the day, he placed it in the chamber of the Second Piece we had recovered and pretended it was stolen. Before that, he had agreed on a price with Mare:
– Tell him you heard a strange sound during the night!
She agreed as she couldn’t see how this could go wrong:
– Diwix is like Scars’ son. I don’t see how a little lie could hurt our leader…
All these things were just distractions to lead the detective down the wrong path. At most, they would incriminate Dillon, which they did. The mentioned leader followed every clue left by his “son” without ever doubting him. For Scars, almost everyone was a suspect in the crime — including me, History — but not Diwix. As soon as he reached the conclusion in Chapter 4, he called Dillon and Jojo to the meeting room, the guardians of the Piece Chambers, leaving them exposed. The investigator, however, didn’t worry about this, completely certain the traitors were those two.
This was his second miscalculation and his first deduction error. At the noon inspection, Diwix discreetly took the Second Red Piece. Aurora, eager to settle the score with the supposed thief of his ring, went to check his post. But when he arrived, he found nothing —not even the Red Piece: its compartment was open and empty. That’s when he realized the tragedy and ran to find a leader.
The rest, dear reader, you already know.
When Scars heard the news from Aurora — who hadn’t been told the truth and was forbidden from opening the Piece compartments—he went pale. His mind was processing part of the story I’d just told when he suddenly leaped up, rushing out the meeting room window and running toward the stables. “I’m not in my best shape,” he told the soldiers, about his retirement from the Force. Thinking back now, it’s a bit humiliating because what he had just seen surpassed the best efforts of anyone…
– Your Excellency! – I shouted, looking out the window at his departure. Everyone in the room shared the same confusion. However, I decided to act: I jumped and ran in the same direction as my leader.
