Humble beginnings

Flypin1 began his army journey by joining the Pirates in December 2018. He remained in the army without activity, before hopping onto smaller armies. The Ninjas were of the notable ones that he briefly joined, where Flypin1 earned a HCOM rank for a week. Eventually, Flypin joined the Help Force in April 2019, becoming a staff member in July. He retired for a brief duration in December, returning back to the HF staff team in January 2020. In June 2020, Flypin shifted over to the Dark Warriors for a staff position there, remaining there until its shutdown in December.

Flypin did not enlist in any army for a significant time whilst active around the army community. In June 2024, he made a return to the Help Force, working towards a victory in the Legends Cup XIV tournament. However, he left the army shortly after, joining the Rebel Penguin Federation, where he is enlisted now.

Furthermore, Flypin has contributed much to the community. This began before he even joined armies, when he was a Club Penguin Online moderator in 2019. Flypin’s moderating experience shifted onto Club Penguin Armies: The Game in the summer of 2020, and after that, CPArmies. In July 2022, he joined the moderation team of Club Penguin Army Battleground.

Following some mild inactivity, Flypin regained consistency by January 2024, joining the Club Penguin Army Judges. Flypin was then promoted to Head Moderator in CPA Battleground on March 24, 2024, alongside Paddy and Action. In the same month, he also joined the Club Penguin Armies YouTube team. He additionally joined the CPA Community Committee in April. In August, Flypin was promoted to the CPA Head YouTuber, and became CPA Moderator in September, where he serves to this day.

Club Penguin Armies secured an interview with Flypin to gain insight on his most memorable moments.

As you’ve grown along your army journey, what would you say is the most important quality for a troop to possess?

I would say the most important quality for a troop is an open mind. This goes for a lot of reasons but for one armies are a fairly unconventional activity. When you get recruited and get told to make an account on CPAB, you have to keep an open mind. You’ll meet a lot of people of different backgrounds in the community. Being able to make friends with them can be dependent on your outlook. I try to look at the people I meet with a sense of understanding. At the end of the day this is a social activity and the more you learn about others in the community, the more you will gain from it. Personally I’ve gained more from the people here and my love for the friends I’ve made is why I stick around.

What advice would you give to the Flypin joining armies back in 2019?

Oh man this is a hard question lmao. I really wanna say, don’t be a noob. I think I didn’t really understand how armies worked until I got farther along. I wish I took more time to learn about the history of armies and where I stood within that. Also I would totally tell my former self about the behind the scenes activities of CPO a lot sooner.

How have your experiences in armies impacted you as a person?

I think I’ve improved at interacting with people since I joined armies. Over time I learned more about people around the world. Armies is sort of what taught me that the globe is really big and to be more aware of it. I know that sounds super cheesy, but it’s true. I feel very connected to others being in CPA and learning more about them every day. I’ve reiterated this a million times but for me, CPA is all about the people. There’s a lot to gain just from recruiting and meeting strangers, welcoming them to your army, and growing with them as people. It’s a really beautiful if you let it be.

Throughout your journey in armies, you’ve made many memories. Which do you feel is your most renowned?

So for this one, I’m gonna talk about a specific moment. In early 2020, I was a mod in HF. We did a US event on CPR almost every day and I remember I would hype and pre ping while walking home from school and then attend the event as soon as I got there. One specific day I came home to my sister trying to cook food and she had set it on fire. I said it in staff chat and I remember I got laughed at for a bit LOL it’s one of the more fun times. I think a lot of early 2020 HF was pretty fun for me. I wasn’t staff for Jan 2020 so I remember I spent a lot of time relearning how to recruit and trying for GoTW, which I never won (I’m still salty) but it was really nice overall.

Are there any lessons your army journey has taught you, that you wish to share with the community?

Actually, this is a more recent one I’ve learned: You can’t make everyone happy. The army community is constantly dissatisfied with something. I’d like to think I make an effort to be a nice person but no matter how hard I try, someone will always be upset. It’s not a fault of mine, it’s just the way it is.
Another lesson I’ve learned is: You can take the guy out of the penguin but never the penguin out of the guy. This place will always be a big part of my life. You can leave this place, but it never truly leaves you.

Flypin1’s unwavering loyalty, consistent support, and behind-the-scenes contributions have made him an invaluable part of the army community. While not a leader, his dedication and willingness to help wherever needed have earned him respect and admiration from many. His quiet yet impactful presence continues to inspire those around him. What do you think has been the most significant way Flypin1 has contributed to the community? How do you believe his influence will continue to inspire others in the future?
