What’s up, CPA? Satchmo’s back! As many of you know, I was away from the community for three years, but now I’m back and ready to tackle one of the most intriguing questions of 2024—what is the best Project Conquest Blood Bowl uniform?
Before presenting my rankings, I want to clarify the criteria I used to evaluate each army. The first key factor is originality—how unique and distinct the army’s uniform and presentation was. Many armies lost points due to a lack of originality and creativity. The second key factor is representation—how well the uniform reflects the identity and essence of the army. These two aspects are, in my opinion, the most important aspects of making a good Blood Bowl uniform.
Without further ado, here’s my ranking of the best Project Conquest Blood Bowl uniforms.
T8. Help Force/Aliens/Spartans
Despite 10 armies competing in Blood Bowl, we have a three-way tie for last place. All three armies used the classic vampire costume. The Spartans, in particular, have no features reflecting their own identity. While I’ll give credit to both Aliens and Help Force for staying somewhat true to their identity, neither one stands out enough to rank higher than the other. Therefore, they are all positioned in 8th place.
7. Water Vikings
The Water Vikings opted for the blue alien mask and costume. Although I appreciate how they incorporated aspects of their original uniform, something about it feels off. This uniform would have been better suited for Aliens, rather than the Water Vikings. For that reason, and that reason alone, I cannot, in good conscience, rank them any higher.
6. Winged Hussars
I love the Winged Hussars, but I am not the biggest fan of their uniform. The astronaut suit does not incorporate anything from their army. While I understand the Among Us reference, aside from the wings, their identity is not reflected. You could even argue they deserve a lower ranking than the Water Vikings. The only reason I have placed them above the others is because of their creativity. However, due to their lack of army identity, I believe the Winged Hussars belong at 6th on my list.
5. Special Weapons and Tactics
The Special Weapon And Tactics’ uniform is incredibly basic. They kept almost everything from their original look, swapping the oxygen tank for a Halloween-themed scarf and the green sneakers for orange ones. Not much was changed, but I do not think much needed to be changed either. The original uniform already captured the spirit of Halloween. While the changes were minimal, I believe that was all that was needed for SWAT to step into the Top 5.
4. Secret Service
Secret Service went all out with their uniform, creating an extremely vibrant look that made them stand out. I love the creativity, especially the addition of the night vision goggles, which tie into the agent theme of their army. However, what I don’t like is that it lacks much of their identity. Aside from the red beanie and the night vision goggles, there is little that specifically represents the Secret Service. Still, given how much more creative it is compared to the previously ranked other uniforms, I believe it deserves a spot in the top 5.
3. Templars
Although not much was changed, I believe the Templars‘ uniform is one of the best. I love how they used the knightly armor, a darker version of their signature golden armor. It not only perfectly represents Templars, but also fits the Halloween theme beautifully. The combination of gold and black is striking. Even with minimal changes, I think this uniform absolutely deserves a spot in the top 3.
2. Army of Club Penguin
The Army of Club Penguin went all out on their uniform. I love how they incorporated the classy vampire costume alongside the skeleton mask and green cloak. All three pair so well together. Additionally, adding the epic staff and shield elevates it to another level. The uniform gives the illusion of an undead army, which perfectly combines the Halloween season with ACP’s image. The uniform is absolutely perfect in my eyes.
1. Scars of Club Penguin
Having Scars of Club Penguin ranked at the top of my list might surprise some people, but I believe their uniform is not only creative and unique, but perfectly represents their army. Coolgirl, SCP Legend, actually designed it. He has a strong presence in the army and is a huge fan of puffles, which he calls “pufals.” His favorite, naturally, is the green puffle. The uniform takes inspiration from the green puffle’s goofy nature, incorporating the clown wig, shoes, and the green “I <3 Puffles” shirt. They score high, not just for originality, but for perfectly encapsulating their army’s identity in such a fitting design. This captures SCP’s meme army vibe perfectly, and I can’t imagine a better fit for them.
Although I am not the biggest fan of all the uniforms, I still want to congratulate everyone on their hard work in creating them. I encourage everyone to incorporate their army’s identity in future designs and to continue having fun. What did you think of each army’s uniforms? Do you agree with my ranking?
