In an effort to provide more transparency to the community at large, the latest news provides a look inside the inner workings of the Army Board. Large costumes are already banned from tournaments, yet army leaders seek to expand the restrictions.
Army Board is a group of army leaders that works as a representative body in the Club Penguin Armies league. While administrators run the league, the Army Board is the one that votes on league and map rules. In order to have a representative on the Army Board, an army must be present in the Top Ten for four weeks, as well as not be a colony or proxy army. Although the Army Board has accrued negative press, it has relatively ran smoothly over the past year.
Some time ago, the administration decided in partnership with Club Penguin Army Judges to disallow large costumes during tournament events. The request, made by the judging organization, was for the benefit of judges as a way to provide more accurate results to the community. Large costumes can cause lag for certain users, and may lead to inconsistent judging considering that the tactic of “covering” determines most outcomes.
Following the Army of Club Penguin‘s defeat by the Squids, community wide discussion about large costumes popped off. This conversation made its way to the Army Board. Once he was made a Head Representative, Ugly proposed a meeting regarding large costumes. It was perhaps one of the most straight forward meetings, with unanimous agreement. Ultimately, large costume restrictions were added to our general battle terms.
Club Penguin Armies reached out to then Head Representative Ugly on the significance of this ruling.
What was the motive behind pushing for rule regarding large costumes?
Firstly, of course Squids using the huge costume for the map invasion, even though we heard they used a regular uniform for the Legends Cup XIV battle, they used the lack of the rules around the map to have an advantage.
Secondly, everyone knows and agrees that big costumes shouldn’t be in regular battles because clearly its written in the rules for wars, so having that not be present in map invasions which are almost the same thing as war invasions was pretty weird. For me personally I have never seen an army battle with a costume used as a handicap in an official battle.
How do you think this will affect future battles?
I think this won’t affect battles at all because like I said no army uses costumes for battles unless its a practice battle for fun, and if they are using it it’s probably a meme army which is clearly the case here and they shouldn’t be on the map in the first place.
Thanks to the vote by the Army Board, rules regarding costumes have become more uniform (hah, get it?) and should lead to fairer battles. What do you think of this vote?
