The history of the Legends Cup dates back to July 2010, when Army Legend Oagalthorp first proposed the tournament idea. Thus, at the Army of Club Penguin‘s request, Club Penguin Army Central decided to host it. Without a shred of doubt, the tournament was a success. This initial eminence led CPAC to keep hosting it – until Club Penguin’s closure in 2017 – having eight editions held in the original era.

With the ascension of Club Penguin Private Servers, the ninth edition of the Legends Cup was then held by the Club Penguin Online Army League. However, in the following year, with several armies leaving the league and supporting the newly-opened Club Penguin Armies, no organization hosted the tournament. Starting in 2020, other organizations, such as Club Penguin Army Hub and the revived Club Penguin Armies would go on to fulfill the mission of hosting future iterations of LC.

Legends Cup VI Finals: Rebel Penguin Federation vs. Water Vikings

This year, the organization proudly presented the Legends Cup XIV, in which nine armies are set to compete. Last year, the community saw the Clovers claim their first major tournament trophy after close battles against the Elite Guardians and the Rebel Penguin Federation. Nonetheless, will they be able to grab another win? Or will another army attain such a coveted trophy? For that, armies need to begin preparations as soon as possible.

To learn how armies are preparing for the tournament, we reached out to leaders for an exclusive interview.

How is your army preparing for Legends Cup XIV?

Ugly, Army of Club Penguin: Focus on troop retention and overall recruiting, spreadsheets with all troops in server to DM, expanding the staff team further, changes in the staff system, improving battle performance, hype, incentives, pre battle procedures, and most importantly having fun with this rather than making everyone’s lives hell.

Fitsuki, Elite Guardians: Revealing our plans to everyone would be a dumb move. What I can say is that we are preparing great things to animate our soldiers and ensure that all areas of the army function at 200%.

BEASTO, Help Force: Well I can say that the Help Force is in it for a fun ride full of surprises in Legends Cup and our goal is obviously to focus on the Trophy with so much hype :))

Shallissa, People’s Imperial Confederation: The past few weeks PIC has been putting a lot of focus in our sizes which has benefitted us a lot, especially in becoming Major. Now that the first round of Legends Cup has officially been scheduled, we’ve planned a week full of practice battles to prepare ourselves. We will even be practice battling the Water Vikings as a practice round for next weekend. While we’ve been performing very well lately, especially in tournaments, we don’t want to take anything for granted. Whether we move past the first round, or end up in the elimination bracket, we will give Legends Cup our absolute all.

Gabgeirl, Rebel Penguin Federation: Throughout the lead up and duration of Legends Cup we’ll be hosting a number of different training events to focus on different aspects of battles. This helps both troops and leaders be as strong as possible during the actual tournament.

Fun X Time, Special Weapons and Tactics: SWAT isn’t planning to exclusively prepare more for the Legends Cup, but we are rather in a moment to improve our strength against enemies in general, instead of just focusing on the tournament. We are at war with the Templars right now, and hopefully, the war will cause issues for the Templars in the year’s grandest tournament. We are certain that we would bring at least one victory home, and the present war against the Templars is certainly key for us, as it has helped us greatly improve, while the Templars have not benefitted from war during a tournament. Sounds like SWAT is always brewing up something awesome behind the scenes!

JoelFreak, Squids: We are getting our tentickles ready to smack the other armies out of the LC. We are currently swimming round the ocean, nobody can stop the squids, we will 3-0 swat, then 3-0 egcp, THE MIGHTY SQUIDS SHALL PREVAIL!

Mocha, Templars: Our preparations for legends cup are going great, we are encouraging our fellow staff and hcom to recruit, register more, have several practice events, and continue with troop retention.

RyeBread, Water Vikings: Water Vikings is training hard for this Legends Cup. During our training events, we hope to push our troops to become outstanding vikings on the battlefield in preparation for the tournament. Other than that, we are working closely with our staff team, and creating new tactics against the armies yet to face.

From the interview above, we can see that all armies are giving their best to secure victory. Whether by incentivizing recruitment or generating hype among troops, armies are investing a lot of time in preparations. Who do you think will win this year’s Legends Cup? What army is the most prepared in your opinion?
