With the community divided on the potential winner of the tournament, the Water Vikings and Rebel Penguin Federation met on CPA Battleground for the final round of March Madness IX. Although the Vikings’ 61 troops outnumbered the 51 Rebels, both armies had a variety of strengths and weaknesses. Although the Federation managed to secure victory in the final room due their speed and covering, WV took home the March Madness trophy after immense success in the first two rooms. Winning the past two major tournaments, the Vikings have established a fresh winning streak. In addition, the Army of Club Penguin and Elite Guardians faced off in a third-place match. Despite close sizes from the competing armies, the Guardians defeated the Clovers in all three rooms.

WV defeats RPF in the Grand Finals

Club Penguin Armies spoke with various members of the community to learn their thoughts about the March Madness IX Grand Finals.

Alucard: WV’s performance during the tournament took everyone by surprise, they were underdogs in this tournament again and to go and win it all with a max of 61 against the “tournament titans” that are RPF is nothing short of impressive, they have a great team of leaders and HCOM behind them and could easily go on to dominate the army scene this year

Bryce: It’s always nice to see the army I first joined twelve years ago win a major tourney. Also RPF losing is always great.

Fun X Time: Last weekend, members of the army community saw two armies fighting for victory. I did not have great expectations from the Rebel Penguin Federation at first, but when I saw them winning in the Semi-Finals, I gained some hope for their win. It was already clear that the Water Vikings would claim victory. The Vikings have made another win after the Christmas Chaos XIII, proving that their win at the last tournament was not a fluke. And, I feel that the size difference was probably the closest deciding factor. Congratulations to the Water Vikings for claiming another victory! And, well done, Rebel Penguin Federation!

Ninja Leader: Well, this was an unexpected tournament. Water Vikings beat Army of Club Penguin, which was a huge surprise, and the Rebel Penguin Federation defeated Elite Guardians, which was another huge surprise. And the final was a lot of fun since two armies who did not place first in the top ten were there. Water Vikings worked really hard and won. I congratulate them also good job to Rebel Penguin Federation.

Toxic Storm: WV seems to have gotten better this year in 2024. Winning MM must have been a great achievement to have. I would say Congratulation to WV and their leaders, hopefully we can see more accomplishments from the current hard working and talented team in the army. Hard luck for RPF, but I am sure they can get back on their feet and fight again with more power and intensity next time.

Zombplayzz: To say I fully didn’t expect this outcome would be wrong, but I was still surprised nonetheless. RPF held their own through and through during the tournament, as did WV. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that the Water Vikings are becoming a force to be reckoned with given that they’ve been collecting trophies everywhere as of late. This year’s March Madness was definitely an amazing one, and I can’t wait for next years. Congrats to both RPF and WV!

Zooy: Based on the semi-finals, I felt that WV dominated more in their battle against ACP compared to RPF. WV seemed really determined to win, and I think that their win was something that was truly deserved on their end. I think both armies did spectacular, and I’m a little shocked ACP didn’t make it to the finals! I think this tournament might be marking a change in the battleground of CPA!

Though expectations of the outcome varied extensively, the community seems impressed with the performance of both armies. With another tournament under the Water Vikings’ belt, the potential for a continued victory streak remains open. The Rebels cannot be discounted, however, with most respondents noting RPF’s exceptional display. Club Penguin Armies congratulates the Water Vikings on their momentous victory. How will these armies fare in the upcoming Legends Cup XIV?
